King
Fool-proof security for Chappell: Govt KOLKATA, FEB 6 (PTI) Not willing to take any chance after Indian team coach Greg Chappell's assault in Bhubaneswar, the West Bengal government has made 'fool-proof' security arrangements for the Aussie in view of the first India-Sri Lanka ODI at the Eden Gardens here on Friday. "Fool-proof security arrangmeents have been made for Chappell," state Home secretary P R Roy told newspersons at the secretariat. Police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee, also the Cricket Association of Bengal president, is personally supervising the security arrangements for the players, officials and other VIPs. There was heavy police deployment at the NSC Bose International Airport where the Indian players and the coach arrived in batches and were escorted to a hotel in the southern part of the city. Under heavy police protection, the Sri Lankan team, which arrived from Mumbai in the afternoon, was taken to a separate hotel on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. A large number of security personnel lined the route from the airport to the team hotels. Chappell was manhandled on January 22 at the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar by a Kalinga Sena activist who was protesting against the non-inclusion of players from Orissa in the Indian team.
