Is Kohli too poor to be captain

Just seen RCB v Mumbai. RCB yet again snatched defeat from the jaws from victory.

 

Before anybody says, I dont want to create yet another troll thread. I want a serious discussion about him as Indian captain.

 

No doubt people will oh its just the IPL. But thats a moot point. Kohli was trying to win and he just let the momentum go when Mumbai were some 8/4. His nervous body language seeps into the team.

 

There is no doubt that Kohli is probably one of the greatest T20 players who is passionate about India and likes to lead from the front. Will be the first name on the team. But there needs to be a serious discussion about his temperament in being captain.  Sachin was a great batter but just like Kohli is mannerisms and naivity led to tactical mistakes and nervousness. I dont want to go back to the Sachin era.

 

Say what you may. Under MSD we never let winning positions slip in LOI. Can you imagine captain Kohli pulling off a win in the Champions Trophy 2013? England would have romped home.

Never mind the fact that under Kohli, India won 6 test series in a row(7 if you include the Aus series) and 19 test matches in a row, all it takes is one IPL game to question his captaincy and temperamant. ICF logic

If his captaincy did not win the test ,Then you have to accept it did not affect the outcome of this game too.In the end Captain is as good as his team makes him to be.Rcb simply lacked depth in bowling and Rcb did not have enough.

Captaincy in test cricket is kinda overated .In the sense that quality will more often than not will show through over 5 days .

 

So need more to be a leading from the front kinda captain than great tactician in test cricket.So won't be much of an issue in tests .

 

But a real worry in ODIs .RCB has been the best team IPL for atleast last 2-3 seasons and yet regularly chocked under him.

 

Still has time on his side and can learn from Dhoni hangs up his boot.Hopefully he does.

Dhoni has lost So many T20S wcs ,So It's was good decision on replace him .Kohli has to kick him out of t20s ASAP.

His Dhoniconda methods(or whatever crap his followers call that ) never worked outside low, slow, 2 paced, spin assisting tracks. Hence our disgraceful record overseas under him with an ATG team at our disposal. His captaincy was passable in the 1st 3-4 years because of novelty factor+ATG team. But after that he has been utterly clueless. 

Kohli has flaws I agree but his ego will drive him to improve unlike the shameless Dhoni who never bothered about cricket outside the IPL. I hope Kohli makes all mistakes in IPL rather than in international matches.

In shorter formats he is just as good as Dhoni but not as lucky. But that isn't an endorsement because Dhoni was pretty mediocre at the helm in ODIs/T20s.

You can take lot of shots against Dhoni but his shorter format captaincy will not be on the list.

Do u not remember how dhoni failed to win series against aus in India in 2007.where even after tacking early wickets symmo kept on destroying us in India.Did Dhoni miss something.Lol it's always the bowlers.

If we had a half decent captain in shorter formats we would have at least won 2 more T20 world cups post IPL. And we wouldn't have been flogged in NZ, Australia, RSA repeatedly.

If you think Kohli's captaincy is as good or better than Dhoni in shorter formats from what we've seen so far - in Asia Cup (2014), IPL and the recent Ind-Eng series - sure go ahead.

Wasn't that his first series as ODI captain? That too against 3 time World champions.
