The fact that they chose to challenge India at this stage is down to one reason only , biggest chewtiya institution of India - Supreme Court interference. Plenty, Australia cricket TV rights are set to be renewed next year, and home International cricket can't be taken off Free view in Aus, Cricket Australia will be left with one bidder, Channel Nine. As article points out Channel 9 already making huge losses on Cricket, so expect them to offer a much much lower bid. no wonder Cricket Australia was keen to protect their share of ICC revenue ( I wonder how much ICC make from Australia, not much). For Australia most Australian sponsors would pour money into AFL Maybe a good value to measure India's worth to ICC commercial revenue is compare difference with Rugby World revenues (just as popular sports in major cricket playing nations barring India) Link to comment
Masquerade
Channel 9 are just posturing because they want the BBL rights from Channel Ten (a rival broadcaster) for free. There's no way they're going to give up the rights to the cricket, it's easily one of the highest rating programs in Australian from December to Feb. CG 1 Link to comment
