I know why you are asking that. A 21 balls 23 not out,  where you bat from 12th over to 20th over is only useful to boost average.

sometimes people need to steady the ship in rough waters :giggle:

looks like you purposfully omitted

also we need to consider the quality of the runs vs quanity of he runs :giggle:

T20s and Odis.

if you want to discuss rohit sure open a thread to find out who can be opening alternatives in LOIs and I will contribute there

Again do you think Dhoni is the best wk-bat in LOIs and his spot is secured based on the Avilable talent you see for Indian wk-bats?

@velu has already given me an "unbiased" reply :giggle:

you are  free to follow in his footsteps if you have nothing to add

ODIs - Dhoni's spot is as secure as it was when he was captain

T20Is - Pant can play as specialist batsman replacing Rohit, Rahane, Yuvi

Could you please change thread title by requesting to mods and ask

Is Dhoni worst WK-bat in IPL 2017 ?

I will throw some stats of this edition of IPL

Robin Uthappa - 8 inns 331 runs - s/r 168
Rishabh Pant - 7 inns 147 runs - s/r 161
Kedar Jadhav - 9 inns 213 runs - s/r 152
Parthiv Patel - 9 inns 218 runs - s/r 135
D Karthik - 9 inns 192 runs - s/r 131
W Saha - 7 inns 69 runs - s/r 121
MS Dhoni - 9 inns 173 runs - s/r 120

Not counting Naman Ojha as he has batted only 3 times with scores of 34, 11* and 9.

Clearly shows Dhoni wouldn't get into in 3rd or 4th T20I team of India.

Not to mention he has always been an average T20I player.

His fanatics refuse to believe the reality and abuse people who put reality in front of them in the most objective manner.

They give away more runs with gloves in hand than they score with the bat

By sensible you mean stuff you agree with?

No because you were not getting the point...let me explain...there are 3 opening slots in the squad-2 in the x1 one back up...till date we have used Rohit,Dhawan and Rahane...so sure we can have a debate as to who can replace all 3...my personal opinion is Rohit is not the weakest among the 3 as of recently but if you want to start an openers debate sure more power to you and we all can contribute.

this is about the wk slot which in LOIs is only 1 or at the max 2....Dhoni's performances have been on the decline hence this debate.

as I said no bias here from my end..why can't you contribute with facts and figures instead

First of All Dhoni needs to be kicked out of T20s as he will not retire and leach on to team.Pant should be given more opportunities.Regarding ODIs Dhoni deserves his place considering he played well against England. But if he fails at CT we have to try somebody else.

Amidst all the BS you post about MS,I agree what you have posted here. But what this leach n all lol,he plays only 2 formats why would he retire, yes drop him if there are better options.

Unfortunately we need Dhoni just for his guidance let alone his keeping.

As Kohli has shown he is hopeless on how to stear a ship .We will end up as titanic with his solely running the ship.

As Dhoni has again shown again this season by expertly guiding Smith ,he can command it impeccably.

So Dhoni is needed to calm it under storm whenever there is trouble (So his SR doesn't matter ) and navigate through rough weather to safety aka SUCCESS.

But agree with @maniac , a exceptional talent like Pant should not be kept out of the team.So I say drop the useless Rohit and open with Pant and have Dhoni babysit Kohli.

Robin Uthappa - 8 inns 331 runs - s/r 168 :  One match where he performed without a drop or umpiring error. International teams dont drop it so easily unless its the padosis.

Rishabh Pant - 7 inns 147 runs - s/r 161 Yes. Should play instead of Rohit. I would also say play kishan instead of Dhawan and reunite U19 opening pair.

Kedar Jadhav - 9 inns 213 runs - s/r 152 :  Call this guy a keeper? Better Off spinner i would say.
Parthiv Patel - 9 inns 218 runs - s/r 135 : Cant keep well. Too many errors.
D Karthik - 9 inns 192 runs - s/r 131 : Domestic bully and serious bottler at international level
W Saha - 7 inns 69 runs - s/r 121 : Needs a lot of time to start , perfect test keeper
MS Dhoni - 9 inns 173 runs - s/r 120 : Smacking poor attacks not his forte. He smashed top 2 attacks in SRH and KKR.

Here is your sane reply without abusing. :)

Guidance? That's an admission that he has nothing left to offer on the pitch.

So he's not good enough to play on merit and form but he has to be picked to "mentor" others. If that's the criteria may as well bring Duncan Fletcher back and we all saw how well Ind performed under their joint guidance on tour whitewashes in Aus and Eng.
