Ultimate_Game Posted April 29, 2017 Share Posted April 29, 2017 Really looking forward to CT, if India fields a team, and for once I'm looking forward to CT to see our pacers especially Bhuvi and Bumrah Now Bhuvi and Bumrah should be the automatic choices in the XI but who should be the 3rd pacer? Hardik Pandya would be the pace all-rounder but in some matches where the conditions support pacers, we may not be able to play 2 spinners so will need to pick one out of Jaddu or Ashwin and play another specialist pacer. Who would that be? Earlier I would have gone for Shami but Shami didn't look all that in the one match he played for DD and may not be match fit and in form for CT. Other options are Umesh who IMO is more of a Test specialist and leaks too many runs in shorter formats owing to being too predictable with line, length and pace. Nehra can't be played anything other than T20s. So who should be the 3rd specialist pacer? Ideally I would like this 3rd pacer to bowl mostly in PP and the middle overs. Bhuvi should bowl some overs up front and at the death, and Bumrah should mostly bowl middle and death overs. tweaker 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Shami isn't in good form atm. Thampi isn't there yet. Doesn't have control over line & length. Nathu Singh might be a better option but IMO even he's too green. If DD is foolish to not play Shami,why should Ind be foolish.Shami is a wicket taker and if he is fit (I guess he is) he should play. Agreed but I was hoping Shami would get a few games to be match fit. In professional sports it's not just a matter of being physically fit but to be match fit as well. Generally players take a few games to get back in their groove, i.e. match fit, and looks like Shami won't be able to do so with DD making him a huge risk. Well ideally DD should play Nadeem in place of Zak, replace one of their overseas pacers with Shami and play an overseas batsman to strengthen their batting.
