Can Manoj Tiwary make a comeback?

Anyone thinks he can still make a comeback? Has played his role well for Pune out there, increased his SR, and has been consistent mostly. What I liked yesterday was his overall calmness and confidence, looks like a man who is at ease with his game. Not a big hitter still, but can hit big when required.

He and Manish compete with each other.  Both have pluses and weaknesses. Neither of them are in the mould of Sachin, Kohli, Viru. But they will serve better than Yuvraj in the long run. We need players who have the temperament to build an innings and also go nuts when needed. Example Old Yuvraj singh.  Right now Yuvraj's job has to be done by more than one player.

Manish with his much better fielding & catching (Tiwary drops catches almost every other game) and knack of playing clutch knocks gets the nod.

He surely can, is still not too old and we have no right to say someone can't. His game is better suited for 50 overs and he has done well for Indian in the oast when given chance.

In fact, if not for injuries, he could have been playing today ahead of Manish Pandey in the Indian team.

Let the current lot of youngsters like Pant get chance, but keep guys like Manoj Tiwary in mind too. If he is doing well and if there is any room at any time for Indian team to try any different player, he can be tried down the line, provided we are not dropping Pant or someone like him.

I am tired of people talking about young, young. It's impractical and false expectation to think that young players will come and start doing miracles. 1 out of 10 highly talented young players will adjust to international cricket and succeed. Rest of them will take their time. Even Kohli who was picked at 19-20 wasn't a success straight away and got dropped after 15 ODIs. Yuvraj and uthappa were also picked at 19 but they remained mediocre for a long time. We in India very quickly discard players and overlook their improvement. Cant have more than one rookie at a time .

People are crazy absolutely. They think anyone nearing 28-29 is old, all of a sudden.

Some people improve for better when they are around 28-29 and can still offer a lot to the team and play good 5-6 years for the country.

being picked at young can work in case of fast bowlers when they are young, quick and fit, learn as they play more and if good are able to play 10-12 years but even fast bowlers should not be picked before 22-23 years of age. Spinners always mature late and get better with age. Same with batsmen, young batsmen might show some spark and play great innings here and there, but they would not be consistent or be aware of match situations because that comes from experience. Don't expect young rookies to play like mature cricketers.

If we remember clearly, Raina showed spark as 17-18 years when he won us a game against Pakistan in Panistan and then went on a decline and then later picked up his game as he matured and even though he had his weakness, he dominated lot of attacks in ODI's later in his career until recently when he started failing again in ODI's. He matured late but did exceptionally well once he was set.

This is why it is important to carry one or two youngsters at a time but not too many. Have few and rotate around them. And give them chance and even if they get dropped, don't just shut them out completely forever and call curtains on their career.  They shouldn't be treated like trash whom you just use and throw.

They can be tried later once others have gotten chance.

Raina debuted against SL at 19 in 2005 and scored a duck on debut. He then played against England in next series and played one good innings. Very soon, he started batting at 3 after seniors were dropped but there he was exposed against quality fast bowling. His induction also ensured that he could not develop his long format game.
