Harbhajan Singh Says He Doesn't Get Same 'Privileges' As MS Dhoni In Selection Matters

Recommended Posts

Well not the first time Bhajji has whined in recent times but for a change ,first time I agree a 100% with him.

if past reputation is the benchmark then why not our 3rd highest wicket taker of all time? and if IPL is the benchmark then why not Bhajji? Why should Dhoni get the free ride?

He is a 100% correct about hypocrisy but I would have respected him a lot more had he said why not young blood instead of has beens instead of making it about himself .

Ashwin and jadeja in ODIs are so over rated. This team really needs some change. Its fine if we start losing a few but try kuldeep, chahal, krunal etc after CT at least. :hitler:

If we win CT forget about much changes but we might get to see Ashish Nehra in future donning ODI jersey.:laugh1:

Harbhajan was performing.

Ok 1st Lets come to bhajji vs ashwin Odi

Overall

Bhajji avgs 33.35, eco of 4.31, s/r 46.3

Ashwin avgs 32.37, eco 4.91, s/r 39.5

Clearly ashwin has better stats

Now ashwin has played 105 games, so ill compare were they stood at that point

Ashwin has 145 wkts

Bhajji had 131 wkts in 105 games

Ashwin is not better than Harbhajan in this format.

Harbhajan is right. He deserved to go.

So how on earth is bhajji better ......

Now ill tell u major diff that these stats dnt show

1. ashwin played mostly after 2011 where 4 fielder outside circle rule came in that made spinners life hell. Bhajji didnt had that issue

2. There are 2 new balls to, bhajji got old ball most part of career which is good for spinner. He still doesnt dare much in IPL to hold new ball....imagine how bad his stats wud have been

3. Boundaries sizes, pitches, bats , innovation all made spinners life difficult post 2011, and still ashwin stats are better

Yet ashwin also have been dropped from Odi time n again

Dhoni was not.

Now bhajji vs dhoni

Ur talking about 2 of the biggest match winner in LOI history in indian cricket

Bhajji lost his place post 2011 due to bad form, yuvi got cancer

Dhoni well look at his stats u might just find one bad yr.....just one bad yr. Even kohli would have that

Dhoni odi stats

U dnt drop a player with such consistency that easily........add the burden dhoni had for captaincy n WK.

Look at dhoni number in 2011,12, 13.....bhajji was dropped in 2011. Didnt do much in 2015 series against Sa.....

Yuvraj was not.

Now bhajji vs yuvi

YUvi might not be even shadow of his past but atleast that guy went to domestic n made runs n earned his place. Bhajji went to roadies n in previous yrs what has he done to earn a place back. When he even got his place back on rank turners what did he do

Most of all he has a poor attitude

A player with poor attitude will always cry why other got a lil extra chance, the ques is what did u do when u got chances.

Yuvi was a gr8 fielder, match winner with bat and more then decent part timer .......thats how uch valuable was yuvi

Dhoni - best finisher, agggresor, captain, keeper

Bhajji - only a bowler who at times played cameos with bat

That is the reason those 2 get extra chances.......bhajji was always going to be easily replaceable. He was no murali or warne

He shud be great ful that he played despite chucking for yrs and still played after slapping his team mate.

Now the biggest diff

Yuvi 26 MOM

dhoni 20 MOM

Bhajji 4 MOM

So u shudnt even put all 3 in same bracket

Bhajji was only faking injuries in last few yrs then performing......ashwin was clearly a better option then him.

He raises a very fair question. If Dhoni can be selected then one should use the same matrix and select Harbhajan also. Harbhajan is one of the best spinner for limited format. He deserved it over Rohit, Dhoni and Yuvraj. Very fair issue. He is the best. Why is Ashwin in?

How does a bowler 'deserve it over' a batsman, a wicket-keeper batsman and a batting allrounder ?!?

That doesn't make any sense at all.

Well if nehra still gets in Indian teams don't see why bhaji can't lol

Nehra got in t20 squad on basis of ipl and we needed a senior seamer as bhuvi was out of form n shami wasnt good in t20. There was no other option. We had a good t20 season last yr and nehra did help youngsters like pandya n bumrah

Nehra got selected for t20 on basis of ipl which is a t20 format. Bhajji is asking to be considered for  odi selection  on t20 perfomances. Thats foolishness and indian team has a better option in ashwin n if not him there is kuldeep n mishra. Nehra road was clear he didnt have much  competition

Bhajji is a good bowler, well short of being a 'great' in ANY format. Dhoni is an above-average wicket-keeping batsman in tests, an ATG in ODIs and very, very good/excellent in T20s.

Case dismissed, comparing Bhajji to Dhoni is like comparing a Camero to a Porsche.

I will take Camaro over a Porsche any time if you take cost effectiveness into account.

Dhoni is bad. Very bad. He will cause India to exit from CT.

This isn't bang-for-your-buck 'semi-professional team trying to make it stick in a league of big boys', its all about performance.

So there is no place for nothing but the highest-end, top 11 XI.

As far as ODIs go, Dhoni is an ATG. I'd take him over Gilchrist in the all-time team for eg.
Dhoni very rarely drops catches in ODIs, is brilliant with his re-directs on to the stump and a very, very tidy keeper, keeping the extras to a minimum. For ODI standards, he is A+ keeper.

For his batting, true, he has slipped a bit, but so far this year, he is batting at 50+ average and 100+ strike rate. Granted, it is a small sample of just 3 matches and he had a rough year last year. But except for last year, he's never averaged below 40 in all but his first season. So we can take last year as an 'aberration'. There is simply no questioning Dhoni's spot on the side- not without a prolonged slump. I will note that for ATGs, year-long or couple-of-year-long slump in form is painful, but they get that leeway. The likes of Tendulkar, Lara, Ponting, Sehwag, Kallis, etc. are given that long a rope- because they deserve it for hitting a rough patch. Dhoni is the same level in ODIs. So a one-off year, i can live with.

harbhajan on the other hand, is just decent. True, Ashwin (Harbhajan's real competitor) isn't exactly great shakes in the ODI format, but he is still better value than Bhajji. There simply is no comparison between Bhajji's value to the team (an adequate bowler and an average fielder) than that to Dhoni.

Dhoni under current form is not even the top three wicketkeepers. His decision making is the worst I have seen in long time. He cannot score, he cannot think I have no clue what he is doing in the team.

This Prasad selection committee has given hope to all down & out players by selecting them instead of youngsters.

If this players want to enjoy their game, they should enjoy in Ranji not in international cricket.

Here we are talking about youngsters not getting opportunities, but we may get to see all this tried tested & failed again & again players getting selected for the WC.

We may have a vintage team of Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina, Harbhajan, Mishra, Nehra, Gambhir, Uthappa in the future
