Popular Post Ultimate_Game
Dhawan may be lost in the post match analysis after the easy win over Pakistan but IMO I wanted to give kudos to one of the best "big tourney" player we ever had. He gets slated by fans for his inconsistency and if most fans would have it, he wouldn't be there in the in the team and most probably somebody like Rahane would be opening instead of him. But no matter what the guy shows up when it really matters. He won the CT in 2013 and was the best Indian batsman in 2015 WC and showed up against bigger teams. And today he looked the best and most fluent batsman before he got out - should've hit that full toss for a 6 though. He accelerated at the right time when Rohit was struggling a bit and if he had continued, India probably would've put up 350 or thereabouts on the board. What a player and I hope he continues to play the same way the rest of the tourney sandeep, chewy, SecondSlip and 23 others 26 Link to comment
kubrickian
Definitely a big tournament player and match winner. He was scoring at a good strike rate and was relieving some pressure off Rohit who had trouble scoring fluently for a while. farzaangill and Gollum 2 Link to comment

He was the one who truly laid the platform and made sure the following batsmen could take their time without worrying about the RR. One of the most underrated cricketer despite contributing so much in ICC tourneys Gollum and sandeep 2 Link to comment
Manny_Pacquiao
most indian cricket followers, like most sports fans anywhere in the world, are short-sighted, fair weather imbeciles. shikhar dhawan is a PHENOMENAL one day batsman. always has been. fastest indian to 3000 runs, and he averages 43.26 @ a strike rate of 90. he has 9 hundreds in 77 games, and as far as i remember, india has hardly ever lost when he scores 50. easily one of india's best one day batsmen, and could possibly be one of india's best ever if he keeps going like this. sscomp32, Gollum, ThePhenomenal1 and 5 others 8 Link to comment

ThePhenomenal1
Dhawan is a big match player. No doubt about that! CT 13, WC 2015, Asia Cup 2016 including a matchwinning innings in the final. And now here. Anyone feel like Dhawan should hit more sixes? He has such power and its a treat to see him whack some sixes. Should do it more because when he does he goes big! express bowling and Gollum 2 Link to comment

Dhawan should aim to play through the innings coz if he does so he will get a big score with India winning. he has a wonderful ability to up the run rate once he's set and changes gears easily. Agreed, he bats at a good SR and is a matchwinner whether he bats first or chases. Unique talent, easily hated on. He is a gun ODI player and I dont want rohit adding pressure. This is why rohit needs to rotate strike. Hope to see a Dhawan 100 this tournament Gollum and Ultimate_Game 2 Link to comment

sandeep
Most importantly, he never ever hesitates in taking chances and attacking the bowling. You often see him get out in the 60s, but invariably trying to seize momentum - not playing for landmarks. And he pays a price for his selflessness as well - every few months, you'll get the uninformed fan pulling up his numbers and claiming he's not that great for ODIs. There are so many times Dhawan gives it away trying to up the run rate in the team's best interests when he could very well plod around to reach his milestone. I hope he doesn't go the same way as Raina as Raina is as under-appreciated as Dhawan and paid the price for putting the team's interests ahead of his own Gollum, rahulrulezz, The Dark Horse and 1 other 4 Link to comment

There are days Dhawan will not be in good touch and we will end up with a poor start with both batsmen going steady , guess who will be criticised ? Not the batsmen whos scored hundreds at his won pace , but the guy who gifted his wicket playing a reckless shot . This is why I rate Warner , Dhawan , De kock , Hales , Roy etc above the likes of Amla , Rohit who may looks statistically better . sandeep 1 Link to comment
maniac
Shikhar has always been a gun ODI player...Decent test player especially at home and a poor T20 player excluding IPL. He started failing in tests and then was disastrous in T20s and despite him doing well in Odis, the failure in 2/3 formats covered up for it. Also the rise of KL Rahul kind of overshadowed Dhawan as well. Link to comment

Rahul's bones are so delicate, keeps getting injured, he's a bonafide stud prospect, we need him to really get some consistent experience before WC 2019. Ankit_sharma03 1 Link to comment
Pollack
Still cannot believe he was dropped for the most important game in WC t20 for Rahane on flattest of pitch. Gollum, Cricketics, sscomp32 and 4 others 7 Link to comment

Hales is good but why Roy? Also Amla gets unfair criticism. Yes he doesn't play kohli, dekock type of innings but he adds runs a plenty at very good strike rate. Link to comment
wanted_desi
He was smashing OZ attacking in Semi Final till he got out. After that Kohli wasn't able to get off strike and thats how we lost WC. sandeep, Ultimate_Game, sscomp32 and 1 other 4 Link to comment
