Kumble re-applies for coach job

Anil Kumble will be in the running once again to be coach of India after he officially re-applied for the post - this despite the BCCI having said there was no need for a formal application as he would be a "direct entry" into a final pool. Kumble is part of a six-man shortlist that includes Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput, and Dodda Ganesh, all candidates who will be interviewed by the three-member cricket advisory committee (CAC).

Craig McDermott, the former Australian fast bowler had also sent an application but that arrived after the May 31 deadline. The CAC will assess the application and determine his eligibility for the interview.

The CAC trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman is likely to meet this week - most probably Tuesday or Wednesday - to finalise the process and interview schedule. The BCCI wants to identify a candidate before the Champions Trophy ends on June 18, as India travel to the Caribbean immediately after for a limited-overs series.

I was hoping for someone else but now after hearing rumors like sehwag is the front runner or  looking at other names Dodda Ganesh,Lalchand Rajput etc Kumble doesn't seem to bad

 

Mcdermott might be real helpful for our bowlers,heard he did a great job with Australian bowlers

If there are no issues between Kohli and Kumble as per reports, then Kumble would be the best choice. If not him, it should be Tom Moody.

I would've really wanted someone like Stephen Fleming to be the coach   But out of these there are only two realistic options - Kumble and Moody. If the bridge between players and Kumble is not fully burned down and if Kumble is willing to take a less school-masterly approach, he should be the top contender.

 

But if there's too much bad blood between Kumble and the players it's best to move on. Professional sports is tough business as it is and no need to add more baggage in the form of a broken relationship between players and the coach who need to be on the same page. In that case I would go with Moody.

What is the need of coach? Let these players do whatever they want to do without a coach. Don't think they understand the concept of a coach.

Not really.They have let the cricketing committee (Sachin Ganguly and VVS) to decide on McDermott application.

As per the latest developments in the selection of team India’s new head coach, it has been learnt that close to 10 of the present team India cricketers do not want the BCCI to reselect Anil Kumble for the position of head coach

If that's really the case then move on from Kumble. Go with Moody I say.

I feel all this speculative pices on Kohli or 10 players not in favour of Kumble is leaked from BCCI officials who really want to make Kumble a scapegoat for reaching to CoA directly and send a msg to players and coaches that they are still incharge!!  I am not too sure of these stories being right.

yes, it looks like it. They do not want to select Kumble as he sided with COA its political.
