Restructuring Team India

Keeping the 2019 w/c in mind  -   It's better to find an alternate captain now and start to build him up  - Kohli cannot win us major ICC tournaments.   He's a great batsman let him do that.   We need someone similar to Dhoni as a tactician who has made our team look much better than it has been

This is kind of silly overreaction I expect on icf lol

Yes, we lost CT but hey it' not the end of the world. There's a world cup in 2 years time in the same shores. What do we need to do as a team to win it? I know tournaments can be momentum based but I believe there are certain things India can do to iron out all chunks and be as prepared as possible. SOme of them I suppose are -

1. Remove the deadweights from the team. Now or never. No point in fielding Yuvraj, Ashwin, Jadeja. Bring in youth and wicket taking options.

2. Ensure that all the guys get to bat in tough situations. Be ready to experiment with batting order, even if we're winning. Everyone in the team needs practice, no matter how talented they are.

Please chime in!

Tough question tbh.

For tests - I'd go with Rahane

For ODIs  -  Rohit is the only choice coming to mind.

Can't be any sillier than thinking Kohli is captaincy material...

Kohli has won all the test series he has captained as a full-time captain. He has won 7 test series on the trot against all the big countries we play tests with.

This is an Indian record.

And you want him removed as a test captain !!

It just points towards your personal dislike towards him....nothing else.

How many of those matches were on the Indian subcontinent ?

Indian subcontinent matches have no value ?

We have lost and drawn quite a few test series in the Indian subcontinent in the last 17 years.

Another thing is the sheer dominance with which 5 of those 7 test series were won.

They have value but they do not represent how good you are or what your worth.

Australia winning in Australia but struggling in India makes them beatable but India winning at home and losing elsewhere makes them invincible ?

In  neutral venue - if you lose to a number 8 side then firstly then ratings don't matter so Pakistan being 8 isn't corrrect and India being number 1 is worthless.

Secondly,  if you only win and are so strong in only one sort of environment then you are very one dimensional and would get exposed in a different environment and we did - so how are we world beaters or world champions like we proclaim ?

There are two aspects .

If n testsl cricket ,captaincy is about leading from the front.Because of the length of format ,in tests regardless of tactics teams have enough time to come back and better team invariably wins.

In ODIs it's about street smart captaincy.Always should control the flow of the Game and think on your feet .Tactics matter hugely .

Kohli is former type of Captain.Ideal for test cricket.

Dhoni was the perfect example of latter.Thats why we won so many trophies under Dhoni.Gambhir and Rohit are also pretty good in the latter regard.

Now Kohli either needs to learn how to captain in shorter formats or we are screwed for 2019 world cup as well.

Captaincy is overrated ,Neither Dhoni would do anything about lendl Simmons  noball and poor bowling neither can Kohli.
