Don't think so. I have aded both sides of the divide here by even questioning whether Kohli should continue as ODI captain.

This is a * team to be honest...they never perform in a Semi final or final against a quality opposition either with bat or ball. Top order chokes..even so called best batsman Virat...and rest are just ****. 

 

CT 2013 was a FLUKE. The sooner you guys realize that the better. We didn't win that either with bat or ball. It was just incompetence/choke job of England.

This selection committee is very pathetic.They don't have guts to even try youngsters for the Windies series.

 

They don't want to create competition for the spots.They just select tried & tested failures each time they get an opportunity to select a youngster.

 

Kuldeep, Shreyas, should have been integral part of this squad.Pant should have been understudy to Dhoni instead of Karthik.

La.. Wda mera, need asswin, kaddu, dhawan and no-hit, yuvi and Dhoni out asap and no it's not knee jerk reaction we have seen it time and time again

What happened the last time when wholesome changes were made with new captain and all senior players rested for the 2007 World T20?

Yuvraj, Ashwin almost universally considered not good enough for ODIs. Dhoni, Jadeja too have more on the side who want them out.

Pretty sure MSK Prasad will want to continue with all of them. Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli might be fancying their chances of making a comeback to the team considering how these selectors love old hacks.

Something I wrote in other thread 

 

Playing finals was still above expectations for this tournament - felt short by the extra ingredient champion teams have. We have been making all the semis and Finals so this is a good team but 80% of where you need to be and that final 20% is what makes the difference. WC15, T20 14, T2016, CT 17 we were there but lost to the champions in the end. you can say ended but second best. 

 

The reasons are not rocket science - we were all fearful of those. 

 

1. Middle order not good enough after the excellent top order - at best they were supporting cast to build upon the top 3

2. Spinners who are not really ODI bowlers. 

3. Strategy was again pig headed - Shami did not even get a game! what use is a great bowling lineup if not fully used. It is good to get spinners vs. SA but then strengthen your bowling again. 

 

This team has decent temperament and some very good players which helps it to reach the top 2-3 but then that extra failings kicks us from behind. In 2011 we had people like in inform yuvraj(with bat and ball)/Raina etc. to bail us out. It was a more well rounded team. 2007 also was an all rounded effort. 2013 the conditions just made spinners effective and we had more fight. 

We just seemed to have that much less options in bowling or batting. Good teams have 5-6 good bowling options. 

 

But still I don't feel all doom and gloom. We are still heading in the right direction

 

1. Fast bowling is improving and we have a culture going with much better pipeline than before. BHuvi/Bumrah were good in death

2. Pandya answers some of the answers to lower order hitter. There are others like Pant, Kunal waiting

If selectors have the cojones, the decisions to be made are very easy: a) thank Yuvraj for his service and dump him never to pick him again, b) select Pant but play MSD as a batsman for next 2-3 series to send a message, c) Ashwin, Jadeja to be replaced by Kuldeep,Krunal etc and d) Rahul to open with Dhawan and Rohit moves to Yuvi's slot.

 

Kohli, as captain, won't be going anywhere soon that's for sure.

This. We have seen in IPL and other ODIs, Kohli face and body becomes clueless when opponent starts attacking and his bowlers are leaking runs. He runs to Dhoni for help but it should end, Dhoni is not going to last another 1-2 years.

Kohli bowling 3 overs vs SL When you UV, I seriously want answer from Kohli whats the role of UV, Why isn't he bowled him?

After seeing Kohli being clueless on the field and Dhoni tacking charge of everything, UV being relaxed (played one good innings in the series), I won't blame them if they've started their expressing their desire to play in the next WC...

Clueless captaincy and Northie brotherhood needs to be sorted out, that'll take care of the changes in the team...
