Having followed Indian cricket I have seen the BCCI, selectors n captain most of the time lack vision n planning , rarely have we seen selectors plan ahead and work in tandem with captains.

The ICC tournament debacle was an accident waiting to happen n the same team reaching the finals was an over achievement, with only three BATSMEN to talk of at the top n past thier sell date useless BATSMEN to follow as middle order made our middle order non existent.Dhoni ,Yuvi can no longer make play or dominate or rotate strike n depend n only can bat as a supporting cast to Virat as they no longer have it in them.

Insistence on pushing Rahane who has proven to be useless in ODi n wasting a chance to groom a good odi BATSMEN was wasted last 3 years n Rahane experiment continues like the Raina experiment under Greg.

Selectors seem to not differentiate between different formats n specially pick players for that format.Ashwin has been horrible last one year in ODi n no one else was tried n pushed for n first candidate here was dynamic K Yadav.

Selectors need to create separate pools n squads based on format, one player being great in one format doesn't mean he will be great in other one, we have tons of example like Raina, Pujara, Jadeja (Ajay), Rahane, Vijay the list n selectors mistakes can go on n on in this regards, yes a player can work on his game n grow n if he deserves he should be given a go in his weaker format but that is based on performance n growth in domestic circuit first.

We cannot afford to have two finger spinners n that is stupid also they become redundant and are similar on a flat deck n wrist spinner is essential her n we have good options in Chahal, K Yadav.

Odi cricket has changed n so we require players who can fulfill the current needs of the game, dynamic batters who can keep n maintain strike rate from beginning n not eat up first 30 balls like Dhoni n Yuvi.

Our test team is strong , but every format should have one bowler n batter who is a young talented rookie, this will keep the talent pool healthy say for example , Nathu Singh, Aniket Choudhury, V Shankar for test.

Odi team is our weakest team n needs a thorough revamp, Dhoni, Rahane, Yuvi , Ashwin for now should be left on the side, let us see Pant, Shankar, Nathu, Thampi, Samson,Hooda, K Pandya, K Yadav, Sarfaraz.

T20 should be picked up based on performances in IPL n domestic t20, Dhoni, Rahane, Yuvi, Dhawan Ashwin, Ishant should not be a part of the squad n youngsters should be picked up based on form in that format.

Lastly what is the vision we have worldcup in 2019 n we have not infused any young talent to take place of oldies, does any selectors seriously believe a useless Dhoni, Yuvi ,Rahane will be a good ,relevant investment?

We lost yesterday because of selectors and thier defeatist ,conservative n dumb selections partly,we did not have to rely on Ashwin ,Dhoni , Yuvi the whole tournament as they were no needed largely n when chance came to stand up they did not have the game anymore to do that.

Even worse what is the point is selecting the oldies for a weak WI side, so many chances like these have been missed in the past n why Rahane again, hasn't he been given 30 or so ODI already with zero results,we should have sent a young team with few seniors like Virat, Dhawan.

Can we just merge all these moan fest threads in to one ? Hard to keep up with them

This was my view before the finals, I had opened a thread on it also, as it was plane to see the myopic view of the selectors n having no guys to make changes n dropping have beens.

pacers need to bowl a better line  and bowl a touch fuller upfront and work on reverse swing in the middle overs and need a wrist spinner other than that nothing much can be changed as the main spinners and middle order batsmen are too big to be challenged ,they either need to go on their own or need to fail to such an extent that any one can drop them.

Agree, a bit of agressive approach, selection n cricket.
