What would be your ideal XI for ODIs

Recommended Posts

Forget the fact that we have more or less selected the same XI for Windies.

But for the next ODI series what would be ideal XI you would prefer to play ?

Mine would be :

Rohit

Dhawan

Kohli

Rahul

Pant

Hardik Pandya

Krunal Pandya

Kuldeep Yadav

Shami

Bhuvi

Bumrah

Dhoni , Yuvi , Ashwin, Jadeja ,Umesh and Kedar Jadhav all needs to dropped from the ODI team.

Yes slightly harsh on Dhoni Umesh and Kedar (in particular ) but it's time we look to build for 2019.

Preserve Umesh Ashwin and Jadeja for tests .

MSD and Yuvi had been among our greatest legends and had  their glory times but need to look for youngsters.

Ideally would want another Left seamer to be

Ideally would want 6 bowling options in the team beacuse none of our top 5 are decent part time options.

We also desperately need a left arm seamer to add vareity.

Left arm seamers are Sran, Sangwan, Unadkat. Khejroliya is a wild card as very few know about him, but I am very sure of his instant success in domestic cricket and then quick flight to Indian team. He already had some success in domestic. Coming season will be really important for him.

Sran has done a good job in the matches that he has played. Don't know why he has suddenly fallen out of favor with the selectors.

He was injured, came in back in IPL. has not played much, so, not picked and since then, selectors have changed too. These selectors have completely ignored Aaron too. Change of selectors can change the fate of a player too.

Krunal is 26 and has played only 1 first class game. What has he been doing for so many years ? Wasted opportunity. Reckon he will need a year or a couple to prove himself. Cant pick anyone based on IPL.

We are talking about ODIs and List A is the relevant format here.

Krunal has played 14 List A games.

Has 19 wickets from 14 games at an average of 31 and an ER of 5.1

Averages 37.8 with the bat

You dont need him to play Ranji trophy to be picked for ODIs. He has had two serious injuries in last 3 years and missed Ranji trophy due to that.

He is on radar, dravid rates him high. Once he is fit n plays some games he ll be in scheme of things

we need bowlers who look for wickets upfront and look for reverse in the middle overs apart from death bowling, not just look to defend ,for that mindset needs to change ,changing personals are not enough, otherwise they too will follow the same tactics.

True

Khejroliaya has 17 wickets from 7 List A matches .....and took most of his wickets in his first spells

Hence my interest

Doing well in longer format shows you have decent temperament and technique which could be useful in ODIs. Your stats could be misleading if you play one day games on flat pitches and do well but if there is a scenario in ODIs where pitch is helpful for bowlers, you need to be able to handle that and a good temperament and technique will come in handy. Having a good FC record means you are an all round good quality player.

that only comes in to the picture if you are batting in top order, mostly top 3. He will bat ideally at #5 to 7 positions.

If a player has talent and ability that team needs it.......

Pick him, thats how we got hardik people kept crying about his lack of fc class exp and here he is

Indian team needs a 6th bowler at this time who can bat well n hit well
