Dravid urges decisive call on Dhoni, Yuvraj's role in team

Recommended Posts

:dd:

but still love how he backs and supports youngsters.....we need him as a selector but as a coach don't like his over experimenting

That means he is a rubbish manager.

But as a coach he is worth his weight in gold.

Even Hardik Pandya spoke about how time spent with Dravid improved his game greatly.

Anyway don't want him to be India coach. Will be another mess like with Kumble.

Better he serves the team being A team and U-19 coach.Great for our youngsters.

Do you guys really think yuvi will be persisted till 2019 by.he never had d privilege (in harbhajan's word). He will be dropped immediately after a flop series(Most likely to be wi series) and that's it.Dhoni only he can decide,They won't drop him.

Both need to go

Definitely they both are going to be gone.  And soon.  Timing will be tricky though.  And if I had to pick one out of the 2 first, then as much as @goose would hate to hear it, the first one to be gone should be Yuvi.   Head-to-head, MS vs Yuvi, if you want to keep one "experienced hand" around in the middle order, at least MS is a top notch 'keeper and his game management experience can be valuable to the team given VK's poor tactical skills so far.

And if you by the media coverage on him(Dhoni) or his fans meme.He is treated like a Martin Luther King or Obama. His photos, pcs, his so called coolness. His tips to Kohli(The most hilarious of all).Never seen a cricketer with such  a meticulously crafted PR image.Heck not even any athlete.

Hit the nail

amount of credit that Dhoni gets for any step that Kohli takes is crazy. It's like Kohli learnt how to poo from Dhoni too.

Not only that. His PR image is unbelievable.I rarely followed IPL this  year. There were articles after articles about how he ran faster than bolt, how his stumping is faster than light. How he made d vital suggestion to Steve smith.I thought okay he might be setting alight d tournament. Then I asked my friend about it who is a Dhoni fan.He said he has been terrible this season :P

Dhoni has tremendous fan following in south India especially Tamil nadu... Most of the memes you see on internet is by them... As you said his pr is top class and even the man carries himself like royalty with great dignity.

Can't expect sachchu to say these bold things... Only rd can..

For all the buildup dada gives about his machismo, he is usually silent about lifting a finger on the Indian players..

He has a brand value to protect. He can't say anything controversial. In the US, Michael Jordan is still the biggest superstar and he stays under the radar most of the time. He rarely makes any public comments, and stays away from controversial topics.

Post-retirements, Dravid has become more valuable than SRT hands down. When Dravid speaks you can be assured that he speaks that benefits Team India.

He has always been that. He does over

experiment a lot for DD which costs them a lot of games but he I still feel he will make a great coach of Indian team when it comes to 50 overs and test matches, may be not so much in t20.

His ideas aren't bad, he does back all the young guns.

Wrong Jordan is the biggest brand but Lebron is the biggest star and he does not stay away from any controversies. In fact he always brings "being black person in America" topic every now and then.

Lebron is running Nike right now basically on his own. He has a lifetime

mebership, yes, lifetime as he recently was contracted for life,

even post retirement.

Lebron James is America's biggest star and he doesn't give two hoots about controversies.

Yuvi has been dropped before but thrashing domestic bowlers always brings him back. Selectors need to permanently close doors on Yuvraj and Dhoni.

Yes.Yuvi doesn't skip domestic matches and he scores  too.Hope he retires instead of being stubborn like this.

Yuvraj should go. While he possesses the same grace and style of before in his stroke making,  he appears to be slow, is taking time to get started, and doesn't inspire confidence.

Dhoni, I think is still a good wicket keeper and a fine cricketing mind.  But as a batsman he has lost it.  Since 2016 he is averaging 34 in ODIs, compared to his ODI career batting average of close to 51.  He should go too.

I wouldnt drop Jadeja and Ashwin so easily. C'mmon guys...Jaddu invariably gives us 1 run out every game. He is the best fielder in the world and we need his energy in the field. Ashwin I still believe has to offer once he recovers completely.

Jaddu has 1 runout in his last 15 ODI games. :giggle: And possibly even more matches than that since didn't bother to check. :giggle:

Is it what you call invariably one run out per game.? :laugh1:

Selecting a player for fielding is the most idiotic thing keep hearing irritatingly. While there are many on whom the importance of a good fielder is lost there are some crazy guys at the other extreme.

A batsman or bowler or allrounder should do his job of batting or bowling or both good respectively  and should be a safe fielder. If he is good fielder ,it is an advantage.

No way fielding is worthy of same stature as batting or bowling. Players cannot be selected for their fielding alone.

Then make him a specialist fielder. He has no business being in the playing XI.

Except for Dhoni, I accept Yuvi, Ashwin, Jadeja, Rohit and Jadhav should only be selected based on performance. We will never have a wk like Dhoni in the near future and we should use him till he asks himself to retire. All other teams would love to have a WK like Dhoni and we are very lucky to have him.

Dravid just repeating what many of us have been saying for a while. Give younger & hungrier talents the chance instead if turning the team into a retirement home.

Issue is who is listening? The current selectors are brain dead as just seem to pick the same 15 or so players for every series or tournament.

Its ridiculous that in the last few years you can count the number of debuts on one hand thanks to the closed shop selection policy. Its harder to get dropped from the national team then getting into it

Personally I would bring in a bunch of fresh faces including Pant, Kuldeep and the like on the eve of the WC 2019 but not too soon. These guys get all the confidence they need from IPL. Hardik Pandya is in that zone where he's had a handful of games yet has nothing to lose. There is no expectation right now but there will be. I think that's what has served Pak well in this tournament. I'm all for getting youngsters to explode onto a scene but note they will be found out if you move too soon. I would even go as far as saying we should build a team that can specially counter Pakistan. We are going to meet them again in the round robin and they are on the up.
