'Hindization' - Passports to be in both English and HINDI: Sushma Swaraj

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said personal details in passports are now printed only in English and she had received several complaints about it.

Now, She has given an order to Nashik Printing Press that passports should be printed in Hindi as well. So you will receive passports in Hindi and English.

"During the Vedic era, eight years was when children were admitted to a Gurukul and Vanasprartha (a retired life where time is dedicated to social service) falls in the 60-year age group. There will be a 10 per cent reduction in passport fee for applicants who are under eight and over 60. And this will be applicable from tomorrow," she announced.

---------------------------------------------

Hindi is not India's national language, only '40%' Indians have Hindi as 'first' language. 8 of 29 states are Hindi states, and those are some of poorest states and has very few passport holders comparatively. So this 'complaints received' excuse is bogus.

Do we really need reference to Vedic era to know that convenience should be provided to small kids and elderly ? Isn't its common sense ?

We Indians rather have English on our passports than Hindi because Hindi is not spoken in every state??

no wonder why Mughals and Britishers ruled us for hundreds of years

we rather have a Mughal king than a Rajput king from Mewar as Rajasthani Rajput can't rule over us...we rather have Aurangzeb than a Maratha king as their customs are different. This is the exact reason why we were never together.

Promoting Hindi is azz backwards step *now*, that ship has sailed long ago. India is already fighting so many insurgent groups, and South Indians hate forceful enforcement of Hindi. I can communicate only in English with Non Hindi speakers. English is now language of commerce, internet. English has united Indian princely states, India has second most English users in world after US.

See man, we should keep bullshit like Bhartiya Sabhyata, Bhartiya sanskriti aside. At this moment promoting Hindi will create a massive Class divide in India. People's prosperity and literacy is rated by fluency of spoken English. Its reality, time to smell the coffee, wake up. Don't deprive millions of Indian kids access to English in name of pride, Rajputs, Mewar etc. People who lecture on Bhartiya Sabhyata are first to migrate to greener pastures.

How is anyone forcing any language here passport is printed in both English and Hindi. The ship has sail because of liberals ruling the country for 60 years. Tamil people are good example of their love for their language. Nothing wrong printing in national language.

Majority of indians also speak English. English has a far greater chance of winning an actual vote for national language than Hindi.

Hindi is not the national language and i agree- making it national language will do nothing more than create a bigger divide in the country.
