Why Kuldeep has been dropped after his match winning performance in last test?

Recommended Posts

It is simple. Without being disappointed or over estimating anything - It is because we have two of the world's best spinners in Ashwin and Jadeja, and playing Kuldeep ahead of the two isn't right at this time in test as much as it is in ODI's.

Only way Kuldeep could have played today was if Pandya wasn't in the squad. Since Pandya is in the squad, it is the right move to give him a debut now and get him ready for the future tours like the forthcoming Saf tour and the England tour which are coming since over there he will be asked to bowl more overs as the 4th seamer. So extremely important to get Pandya, the all rounder, to get ready for the overseas tours coming.

Pandya gives you the balance and having only a batsman or bowler in his place will make other department a bit lighter. No way Ash or Jaddu will be dropped in sub continent.

What has Pandya done to be considered a batsman at test level? Smacking few sixes in ODIs and T20s doesn't mean he is ready for tests yet. How many batsman have done well at test level directly without proving their credentials at FC level.

So far Pandya averages 27 in FC with HS of 90.

With his batting he can be in team as bowling AR only and it can be questioned whether his bowling his better than Kuldeep or Bhuvneswar for tests whether it's SA conditions or subcontinent.

Bowlers, especially fast bowers and leg spinners can be thrown at highest level just based on talent, but it is doubtful that Pandya possesses that kind of talent atm.

Every team is grooming a leggie who can be handy in all conditions. It has to be seen how long before Indian team take that initiative.

No harm in giving someone an opportunity. If he doesnt do well in due course, he will be dropped for someone else.

Death of Myths.

Ishant and Rohit shouldn't even be in squad to begin with. They are there because they are Kohli's favourite. Not playing them in one match doesn't prove anything. And if they are not going to play in playing eleven then it makes no sense even more.
