Ashwin could lead India influx for county stints

R Ashwin is among the India players who could be appearing in the County Championship before the end of the season, if the first-class counties have their way.

ESPNcricinfo understands that Ashwin is one of those who have been identified as an ideal candidate by Worcestershire with a view to playing the last few weeks of the English season. The club's director of cricket, Steve Rhodes, confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja is also of interest. Other first-class counties are understood to be exploring their options, too.

 

Although the India schedule remains daunting and the BCCI will be careful not to exhaust their players, there is a growing appreciation of the benefits of playing in different conditions and a sense that such experience might help ahead of next year's Test tour.

India's tour of Sri Lanka is scheduled to finish on September 6, meaning their players could potentially be available for the final three rounds of the County Championship season. There is also, however, the prospect of an ODI series against Australia in October, although those dates have not yet been finalised.

Pujara already had 2 stints for Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. Isn't he the first? Anyway, I do hope Ashwin plays for a solid team like Yorkshire/Lancashire/Essex in the first division. He needs some solid practice before we tour next year.

looks like BCCI scheduling unnecessary ODIs vs Aus and Tests vs SL will get in the way.

Playing county cricket is useless at this point. He is no rookie to learn the ropes at this stage of his career. It will only allow overseas batsman to get used to his bowling. Better to take rest when not playing international cricket.

Playing county cricket is useless at this point. He is no rookie to learn the ropes at this stage of his career. It will only allow overseas batsman to get used to his bowling. Better to take rest when not playing international cricket.

He can learn to use Duke ball properly and even get a bit of batting practice

Ashwin and Jaddu would do well to bowl in county. I wonder if the BCCI would allow a full season to them there, considering they both have under performed in the IPL recent years.

That was in Australia .Btw we also played a 5 match series in Australia again in 2016.

 

But their last tour to India for odi series was in 2013
