who came with this sick idea of 4 groups instead of 3.
so players are now gonna get just 6 first class in A year? moreover they wanted to do away with duleep trophy as well ???
insanity
look at england they play 16 4-day games per season.
Their good domestic cricketers in age bracket of 25-28 year have already played 100+ first class games.
our 30+ yr olds haven't played 100 games even after being regular for last 8-10 yrs.

Its good to get your less talented guy experienced enough at young age to debue for the country.
you wont unearth 11 world class talents at a time....

I get what you are saying. I see young England players < 25 years of age having played 70-80 FC matches. In our case, they'd barely have played 12-20 by that age.

But it's also true that England has under performed compared to India in tests for 3 decades now. So all those matches in county cricket isn't translating into test success for England. Nevertheless, I do feel that our players ought to get at least 8-10 guaranteed FC matches per season.

Wouldve been great if we also had the concept of a foreign players playing for our Ranji teams, like what Ashwin is currently doing in county. I think there would be enough interest both ways for this.

What would India gain from having foreign players in FC competitions? England with it's significantly small talent pool has 18 county teams so they can afford to have foreigners play there. In our case, one foreign player means one less place for a domestic talent.

Not a bad idea necessarily.

What happened  in Ranji is that pacers started bowling much slower as they had to play many many 4-day / 5-day games in quick succession.

Batsmen did not get to play seamers at full pace ..... and that robbed them of quality match practice.

Pacers bowling in a semi-tired state is not a good idea and it hampers their growth.

6 guaranteed games may mean pacers bowling with full intensity and batter having to cope with it.

We should play more zonal FC games in the off-season.

yup, and bcci has enough to money to arrange such tournament anywere out of india.

It can be zonal or a pool of 40-50 players divided into A , B, C teams

Something that needs to be given a thought and emphasis , more cricket tournaments were top players compete against each other.

BCCI has also done away with neutral venue concepts, though the knock out games will be played at neutral venues.

Groups:
A: Assam, Delhi, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Railways, Uttar Pradesh

B: Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Team Rajasthan, Saurashtra

C: Andhra Pradesh, Baroda, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Tripura

D: Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Services, Vidarbha

Bonus point - 1 point for victories by an innings or 10 wickets
Drawn game, earning 1st innings lead - 3 points
Drawn game, conceding 1st innings lead - 1 point

Is there some rule or some important u19 or u23 tournament happening

in the older system, you had some really strong teams in the top tier groups.  this sort of dilutes the competition

Rajasthan already have a good attack. So, they are not pushing him in Rajni. Khaleel Ahmed will make his debut this year who himself is a good prospect. Same was the case with MP. Avesh will play this year.
