A 4/10 performance after a very very long time from MSD and his fanboys are out in full force. May be they have got used to his mediocrity and his consistent 0/10 performances for a long time now.

Standards are very low these days. A few freebies from Faulkner and dhoni is back. Gotta love the delusional chamchas.

25 of 42 how disgusting was his innings today...seriously what is the point???

He is getting to the levels of Shastri hai hai days

Brilliant innings under pressure.... 114/4 to 201/5 and he is someone we need for 2019 WC.

Pretty sure if Kuldeep Yadav or Bumrah get a promotion to no.6 and are told to just stay at the crease and give the settled batsman the strike they can manage a 25 from 50 balls too...

he he is a no 6 bat ffs his role is to score runs at a decent rate in any situation.

what is this oh the situation demanded a knock like this argument :wall:

No amount of hyperventilating on ICF will change the fact that Dhoni will play the 2019 WC if he is fit.

If you'll want him out of the team, there are two realistic options. Either pray to the almighty that he is unfit for the WC otherwise take out a supari in his name to injure him just before the WC.

Dhoni is a human, stress of captaincy made a huge impact on his batting, he has to work hard on things today which came to him naturally ten years ago. I think he's hoping for a 2006 Rocky Balboa style of comeback.

Pretty sure Stallone will make 10 more substandard Rocky sequels before that happens ....creed was pretty good though

Who will be the keeper bat instead of Dhoni?

rkt is right, Dhoni is indeed a problem, but we have bigger problems in ODI lineup.

Dhoni problem comes after that. Is Samson (not regular keeper), or R.Pant or Ishan Kishan or Naman Ojha or W. Saha or Dinesh Kartik or anyone ready to replace keep-bat spot in ODI 11? (For T20, try R. Pant)

Well how would you know that answer if you don't try anyone?

Karthik seemed like a huge upgrade over the crap we had in the 90s and early 2000s before we stumbled over Dhoni....we won't know till we try what's available over there

Kiwis made Latham to keep. We played karthik as a pure batsman knowing Dhoni will hardly ever contribute. More importantly the stats guy of our team should hilite the amount of runs made by 35+ old batsman over the years when playing quality fast bowling. Easier to play knocks against spin and medium Pacers like Faulkner. Not easy against Boult and co. And on top of it Dhoni is struggling against spinners as well.

R. Pant played two ODIs against these same Boult, Southee bowlers few days ago.

We are trying Pant, Samson, Ishan Kishan in quite a few matches. Pant's single digit scores are not yet sufficient to knock the selectors' doors loudly. Hopefully those guys grab the opportunities at some point? Right now, they are not grabbing it yet.

Everyone talks about his batting being a problem but imo the bigger issue is his keeping. With teams forging ahead with new, athletic keepers, Dhoni not only looks chunky but can barely move behind the stumps. If he has to stay, then stay as a genuine batsman and bring in a new keeper.

You must be joking right?

lol he is a brilliant keeper and its even more funnier  pakistani fan talking about athletic keepers , ffs your wk is sarafraz

dhoni batting is his major hurdle, not being proactive as a batsman in the middle overs to be specific,if it was only about wicket keeping and running between the wickets dhoni would play for another decade and retire at the age of misbah

No amount of posting anything on an online forum changes anything. From demonitization to sports. We post to discuss things, not change them in real life. What's even the point of your post

Two fold:

1. To remind forum members that whether he deserves to or not, MS will play the 2019 WC, barring any injury. Very similar to how Kapil Dev hung around even after the 92 WC, despite being way past his prime.

Kohli-Shastri-selectors have already decided this and, to my eyes at least, it is quite apparent that MS is, practically speaking, still the ODI and T20 captain. Kohli is just there to take some heat until post 2019.

2. Offering suggestions, to those motivated enough, to try and prevent point 1 from happening.

Look, it's an open secret that MS makes the forum buzz these days. I'm just chipping in with my two cents.

First off, Sarfraz is a superior keeper by all objective metrics. Not many, unless blinded by daal, would even bother countering that argument.

Having said that, Sarfraz is not the most athletic and when I spoke about that, I had 2 keepers in mind, QDK and Bairstow. Both are levels above Dhoni and if India wants to compete away from home, they need a better, younger, fitter keeper.

Dhoni looks like a chai wala who had too many laddus.
Dhoni wipes the floor with that Sarfaraz Khan.Twice a day.

He is fitter than the entire Pakistani team put together.

This eternal transition that Kohli seems to be taking from Dhoni should end. Can't believe that this is happening under Shastri who is a master strategizer on his own.

shastri works out master strategy to kiss Kohli in the rear and keep his role.

That is all he is there for. What strategy is he working? What is his plan. He is clueless and collecting a check.
