Can Krunal Pandya bat at #6 in the ODI team?

I really like the idea of having both Pandya brothers bat at #6 & #7 for us in ODI cricket. Since they are both batting all-rounders, we can count on both bros to provide much needed firepower in our lower order since batting will be their main strength. Both Pandya's are big hitting attacking batsmen and can help take the game away from the opposition and help India win countless matches with their willow. Another plus point with this idea is that Krunal is a very tidy left arm spin bowler and his bowling will be very useful in the subcontinent where we play 90% of our cricket. Krunal and Hardik can both chip in with 4-6 overs each and complete the 5th bowler's 10 overs quota whereas our 4 front line specialist bowlers can complete the other 40.

Having 2 batting all-rounders in the top 7 is a great luxury, they can balance out the team in a lot of ways. India can use Krunal and Hardik similarly to how Team England use Ben Stokes & Moeen Ali.

But the question remains; Can Krunal Pandya bat at #6 in place of Jadhav/Shankar/Raina?

Krunal can also be the back-up batting all-rounder if Hardik is injured.

In that case, we play 3 specialist pacers and another spinner.

Or we can play both brothers and still have 3 specialist pacers in the team.

We can play a lower order similar to this:

6. Krunal

7. Hardik

8. Bhuvi

9. Shami

10. Kuldeep / Chahal

11. Bumrah

This will give us 2 batting allrounders + 3 specialist pacers + wrist spinner.

But if we are to go forward with an attack like this, its very important for Krunal to be a good enough batsman who can bat at #6, hence why I have opened this thread! :--D

I had suggested a similar lineup in other threads.    : )

I think Krunal has the game to bat at 6 ..... but whether he has the temperament for ODIs,  only giving him chances will tell.

Shastri is a big fan of both the Pandya bros and that may help his cause.

We absolutely positively must try him. Both Pandya brothers have that clean striking ability that is so crucial for batsmen who bat at 6 & 7 in ODIs. Jadhav or Pandey should play at 5 and Dhoni bat at 4. Have Pandya brothers come in at 6 & 7.

6. Krunal

7. Hardik

8. Bhuvi

9. Kuldeep

10. Chahal

11. Bumrah

Hopefully Bhuvi can continue his decent batting form also and be a competent number 8.

bhuvi has an avg of 40 from 2016.....bumrah averages 20.. shami 24..umesh 32

he went wicketless in first 4 odi vs sl.....and took 5fer in last match on slower ball and knuckle ball and boundary catches...lol

bhuvi is a cheap defensive bowler only good for t20 to block runs....anyways i am too tired of writing points exposing him...so i will make a new thread for that and post a video in it.

Good. Better still, write a 10 page letter. For all the lack of wickets, he still has a decent ER and bowls well at the death and is leagues better in ODIs than the bowler with the worst Economy Rate in this decade

yeah evidence of that too in ct final...where he had a tight er of 5.3 but went wicketless as usual in first spell...and finally we got 340.....see amir..took 3 wickets and still stopped runs...dipshit bowler overrated  bhuvi

And you think Umesh is another Amir? Based on what evidence?

i said umesh is expensive but take wickets ......i was not comparing him with amir.... i meant they are wicket taking bowlers

No, he is not. He is just too profligate and sometimes gets wickets while batsmen are attacking him. That's not the same as being "wicket-taking".
