maniac
Indian cricket has such a balance problem to be honest- look at this puzzle with the bowling resources Who are our top 3 odi bowlers- all are seam bowlers-Shami,Bhuvi and Bumrah so let us see what happens when we pick them by that logic none of them can be reliable bats ( even though Bhuvi is some what reliable but only relatively)...Then you have Pandya who is the 4th option and who makes it in on his allround ability which means if you play your top 3 bowlers+all rounder you have 4 seamers and place for only 1 spinner. so let us say we pick one of Ashwin/Axar/Jadeja/Kuldeep/Chahal...If you pick Kuldeep or Chahal as that one spinner who on current form can get you 10 overs pick up a couple of wickets and decent economy than you have 4 players in the team who can't bat or be reliable once we are 5 or 6 down if we pick Axar/Ashwin/Jadeja because they can bat a bit- even though if you thought Jadeja was a hack than you haven't seen Axar yet and in OFI cricket Ashwin is the greatest comedy act with his innovative stroke play. And forget batting they are all capable of having a bad day and not even finishing their quota. To summarize you either have to drop one of your top 3 bowler and go with 2 spinners one wicket taking and one who can bat- which will mean you still go with a 2+2+1 combo but may not be your strongest bowling attack but will have some depth in batting with 2 allrounders at 7 and 8 go with your top 3 bowler+wicket taking spinner+ allrounder which means your tail starts at 8 Top3 bowler+allrounders+ spinner who can bat a bit- batting will be much stronger but if this spinner had an off day you are pretty much fked. This is the problem we are facing yeah easy to throw around names like Krunal Pandya or Sunder but unless Krunal or Sundar are good enough to replace Jadhav or Pandya as a batsman or are better bowlers than Ash/Jadeja/Axar not much use there Edited September 14, 2017 by maniac Link to comment
maniac
^ Also to add Pandya too is still very raw and can very much have an off day..even though so far so good with the ball Link to comment
Laaloo
Yeah lets start by removing the slow ass Slowni from the middle order. That will be great. Gollum, MCcricket, OpeningBatsman and 3 others 1 4 1 Link to comment
Silva
Jadeja is the main reason india had issues with balance. He has been used as a specialist bowler since the emergence of pandya but that hasnt worked out well. Look at how much better india is playing since axar, and kuldeep have taken his spot. I was doubtful of axar at first but he rarely goes for runs even in the ipl. Link to comment
wanted_desi
If we can get KL Rahul to Keep Wickets for WC, it could give us the balance that we are looking for, otherwise teams looks out of place due to Dhoni past it and no new keeper in line. If he can keep the level of Dravid, it wouldn't be a bad choice. We got to WC 2003 final due to long batting line up.. 1) Dhawan 2) Rohit 3) Kohli 4) Manish 5) KL Rahul (W) 6) Jhadav 7) Pandya 8) Bhuvi 9) Kuldeep 10) Shami 11) Bumrah Laaloo and AuxiliA 2 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Since we have CHahal to compensate his weight we should include Ramesh Powar. Link to comment
