Wapas
Hafeez ignored for training camp Pakistan's selectors have once again given experienced opener Mohammad Hafeez the cold shoulder as he wasn't picked in the 18-man squad for a short conditioning camp, starting from September 19 in Lahore, for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to start later this month. Hafeez who last played a Test against England at Edgbaston in 2016, wasn't picked in the T20I squad for the recently concluded Independence Cup as well. The selectors have picked three openers for the camp which include Ahmed Shehzad, Shan Masood and Sami Aslam. After the retirements of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, the selectors are keen on grooming youngsters to replace the stalwarts and that shows in the selection policy as well. They have picked 26-year old middle-order batsman Usman Salahuddin who averages 47 in first-class cricket. The squad has three spinners including rookie left-arm spinner Muhammad Asghar. Meanwhile Wahab Riaz returns to the squad as does Mohammad Amir who didn't play in the Independence Cup due to the birth of his first child. The 18 players invited for the camp: Azhar Ali, Shaan Masood, Ahmed Shehzad, Sami Aslam, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Usman Salahuddin, Sarfraz Ahmed, Muhammad Rizwan, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Asghar, Bilal Asif, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Aamir, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Abbas and Mir Hamza. © Cricbuzz Edited September 17, 2017 by Wapas Link to comment
