His career is full of such gambles(waiting till end to catch up to SR) and he always finds himself in a win-win situation. One of the three things happen: 1) Someone on the non striker ends saves the day. Dhoni's much pressure is released and he plays calmly. 2)He catches on SR in a style at the very last moment. 3) There is collapse. No one stays for a long time with dhoni. Dhoni does his usual tuk tuk. No game awareness nothing. No attempt to win it on his own. After the match dhoni is the only one who scored is the excuae. So avoids criticism. Texan
Good innings today in setting up a decent total. He tends to do these with a lot of regularity. I think we all already know that Dhoni is capable of such innings. For the most part, while Pandya was striking it cleanly at over 100 SR, Dhoni was into consolidation mode with SR in 50s. Challenge for Dhoni these days has been to get that SR high in his first few balls. He always seems to play these 25 off 50 balls starts before he can start accelerating. If he stays and accelerates, that's good. But if he gets out then, what it means is that he sucked out all the momentum and also didn't get a decent score. No doubt today though, that he played well in setting up a competitive total. velu and G_B_ 1 1 Link to comment
