Schedule: India's tour of South Africa 2018

Following the one off Test against Zimbabwe, SA will host India for 3 tests, 6 odis and 3 t20is. 

 

INDIA will play a solitary 2 day practice match before the tests start. 

 

Tests

January 5-9: 1st Test, Cape Town

January 13-17: 2nd Test, Centurion

January 24-28: 3rd Test, Johannesburg

 

ODIs

February 1: 1st ODI, Durban

February 4: 2nd ODI, Centurion

February 7: 3rd ODI, Cape Town

February 10: 4th ODI, Johanneshburg

February 13: 5th ODI, Port Elizabeth

February 16: 6th ODI, Centurion

 

T20Is

February 18: 1st T20, Johannesburg

February 21: 2nd T20, Centurion

February 24: 3rd T20, Cape Town

How'd team management agree to this schedule? Will BCCI sacrifice the quality of home games against Sri Lanka (or whoever) and fly bulk of the test squad to RSA 2-3 weeks before the tour begins?

England will arrive almost 25 days before the first test match in Australia.

Yes. Ridiculous to be honest for such a high profile tour and at a place where we have never won a series.

The SL series is such a waste of time and effort.

Ideal scenario would have been 3 ODIs, 1 T-20, Couple of warm-up games followed by 3 tests.

India should always play one-dayers first on away tours. Only 3 tests - India bound to lose 1 which means they have to win other two. 4 tests allows for a draw. Arguably one of the most important tours for India (and test cricket generally) in recent memory.

The tight schedule is like BCCI indirectly telling it's players that a loss is acceptable, as long as they do their bidding in helping them to fill the pockets.
