Malcolm Merlyn
So how many matches will this Ajinkya Rahane will cost us in ODIs before he is permanently dumped?KL Rahul isnt getting a chance. But this guy Rahane who has played 83 Odis and avgs less than 35 with a SR of less than 80 keeps playing. This is getting into the Pakistani afridi zone, where you keep playing someone even if he is not upto it. chewy, tweaker and sandeep 1 1 1 Link to comment
SK_IH
this guy scores his runs, then throws it away.he doesnt have the ability to play odis/t20s Link to comment
chewy
Adds no value to the squad, just steady old Rahane, Link to comment
tweaker
This team management does not believe in bench strength.Whenever there is opportunity to blood young players, they bring back tried, tested, failed players again & again. We are talking about Iyer, Pant but the team management is also averse to give opportunity to a player like Rahul, who is in the squad. He should have open in this series Mosher 1 Link to comment
sourab10forever
TBH I don't see his Innings as the reason for today's loss. 53 off 66 as an opener when the other opener is going at 120 SR. Both openers played well. We sucked in the middle overs. Khota and express bowling 2 Link to comment
sensible-indian
Congrats Rahane has scored in 2 series. Another couple of series secured. This series he has good average with SR so we are screwed. When the time comes for a clutch game, watch what happens. You can just see the upcoming train wreck with Rahane and Dhoni in the lineup. sergio04
if we cant score 90 in last ten with 6 wicket in hands then our lowe middle order is not good enough Khota 1 Link to comment
Sgattick10
Its a well thought plan to keep Rahane in squad ... doesn't threaten anyone. Young guns like Pant, Iyer might push for a few places. Jimmy Cliff and nevada 2 Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
He's meant to be a buffer for Rohit/Dhawan. Allows them to walk back in to the side without any pressure after a break. tweaker and nevada 1 1 Link to comment

Pandya is a flash in the Pan. Dhoni should have come up the order. It's not that Jadhav was blazing at a s/r of 200.Kohli ran Sharma out who was in sublime touch today. Link to comment
Laaloo
As long as he's not playing for us in important matches, it's fine. You can put the blame on the lower order though. Link to comment
Texan
Batsmen did not cost us this match. It was the bowlers. And more than that, just the selection of bowlers. Playing Run leaking machine Umesh Yadav is a disaster in any LOI. SecondSlip 1 Link to comment
rkt.india
he certainly has cost this game. scoring was not as easy in later part of both the innings. Warner and Finch made full use of it while he struggled especially could not make full use of it when set. He is not a match winner in ODIs. We need a match winner for opening. Both Aussie openers are match winners. SecondSlip, sarchasm and adi B 3 Link to comment

Here you are 15-20 runs behind. Today Rohit did not get strike at all who was hitting well. He had played 50 balls while Rohit had only played 24 balls. We just could not catch up with wicket also slowing down with ball getting older. SK_IH 1 Link to comment

I mean if Management thinks Rohit, Dhawan and Rahane are better openers than KL Rahul, please go ahead and drop him. But don't confuse the guy who is a specialist opener. SK_IH 1 Link to comment
