Stuge Posted September 29, 2017 Share Posted September 29, 2017 Fifteen people are dead and at least 30 seriously injured in a stampede that broke out at a narrow foot over-bridge near a local train station in Mumbai after heavy rain this morning. The incident took place around 9.30 am during rush hour near a ticket window between the Lower Parel and Elphinstone stations. According to a railway spokesperson, four trains came at the same time and due to the rain, a few women commuters slipped, which triggered chaos in the surging crowd. "We are still inquiring into the exact reasons. It happened on the narrow staircase. People also don't protest when authorities fail to take action, Chalta Hai attitude. A road repair, manhole not covered can take lives, but who cares, apne ko to ghar paunchna hai! All the fecked up laws that UPA brought it in over the years, It will take NDA 10 yrs just to roll those back (forget actual work on the ground)... I don't know why would they mark numbers on the forehead but may so that people calling in to recognize the body could use the number .... A valid point. The hospital claimed the measure was taken to “avoid chaos”. The pictures of the victims, with numbers on their foreheads, were put up on a flex board at the hospital to expedite the process of identification, it said. We should be outraged about the obsession of an over populated country with producing children no matter what. We should be outraged about the lack of proper infrastructure. We should be outraged about our lack of civic sense and civic patience as a national culture. We question the treatment to the dead more than the living. In an overcrowded chaotic hospital, the numbers on the forehead were probably the fastest way for kin to identify and recover and claim the bodies of their loved ones. Tags on the clothes or hands/ feet would probably have been more respectful but then we are not the most sensitive of people when it comes to people other than our own immediate family. But since these deaths were because of one of negligences done by Indian system in general, it's ok. Pakistan is not our main threat, India is. We need to kill the big terrorists, that is Indian system of negligence, corruption, lack of planning. You out can see the attitude on ICf. Pakistan related threads,Rohingya threads get 100 responses but this thread, people are like meah, another day in India. Government needs to realize population crisis is a big deal, two child policy should be a must now. Rather than demonetization, two child policy should have been implemented first!!! Folks always believe, get wet and you oatch a cold and get fever.
