Dhoni: Greatest Indian Cricketer?

I feel he is already the best wicket keeper batsman of all time, but winning the ct13, t20 world cup 2007, cricket world cup 2011, surely cements him as the best cricketer India has ever produced.

That is 3 pieces of silverware, while teams like new zealand and south africa have cobwebs in their cupboards.

He is far from finished either. Has an excellent record this year. One match where he couldn't finish it off in a meaningless odi series and people want him kicked. smh. Fans need to have faith, he is here to stay until 2019 world cup.

Love you Dhoni!

LOL what a joke of a thread, Plz don't bring the quality of this forum down with these garbage threads.

Dhoni is nowhere near to being the best Indian cricketer, He was a pathetic test player, He's not even the best Indian cricketer in ODIs as Sachin and Kohli are easily ahead of him and he's a garbage t20 international player. So basically dhoni is great in just 1 format and even in that he's behind at least 2 cricketers.

Don't mix captaincy with other aspects.

GOAT in terms of LOI captain.

GOAT keeper

ATG in ODI batting

Avg in test captaincy, test and T20I batting.

Far from being the greatest Indian cricketer.

Why LOI? Only ODI.

India has lost 5 t20 WC under his captaincy.

Also he is not a GOAT keeper. He is Indian GOAT keeper though.

In ODIs Kapil and UV too are better than Dhoni. Kumble, Srinath, Zak, Dada, Sehwag are more or less at his level.

One of the Greatest if not the Greatest. His Test Cricket Game, both his batting and captaincy was below average which hampers him from qualifying to be the greatest Indian Cricketer. SRT followed by Kapil Dev are two of the greatest Indian Cricketer's for sheer impact they had on Indian Cricket, on fans, being an inspiration to millions to play the game. So in terms of Greatest Cricketers, here are my top 5 picks.

1) Sachin Tendulkar

2) Kapil Dev

3) MS Dhoni

4) Rahul Dravid

5) Sunil Gavaskar

On the outside, Sourav Ganguly for me is the greatest Indian Captain for picking this team up and building the team from dust.

Good cricketer with very average or below average tactical skills. Any captain in the same time frame would have done equally well in terms of wins. I personally would have fired him when he made dravid take the wickets and started bowling. That was the most spineless effort by any Indian team. Should have been removed from captaincy at that point. Makes extremely impulsive decisions on the field and giving bowling changes to part timers is very questionable.

Final Grade: 7/10
