Lannister
What an utter load of c this is and the selectors are bending backwards to whims and wishes of that Mumbaikar Gavaskar. LOL. Hope when we tour SA, they smash these overrated players. Rasgulla and speedheat 1 1 Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
There is a reason why despite so much of talent we never achieve what we can........... We are not even selecting our best side or even on the right path. So many mistakes in every selection KL rahul dropped after not even given a proper chance- Kohli said 2 series ago he is to good a player to sit out.........what happened now Iyer- What more does he need to do Karthik- how many more yrs of failure in international cricket he needs Shami- he is our best bowler and he needs international match practice Shankar- overseas tours are coming and we need someone like him Pandey- good he is backed but he shud be on the edge now Mosher, OpeningBatsman, sergio04 and 2 others 5 Link to comment
mancalledsting
Thakur given another chance- exciting as has pace DK given his 10th recall to the international team....yawn KL Rahul out- what a backwards move, clearly has all the tools to succeed. At least he can play domestic and hopefully show good form. By that time, DK, MSD, Pandey should have flopped some more paving his re entry. Rahane retained- although I have my reservations about him in LOIs, you can't drop someone after the series he had against Australia (even if his strike rate was on the lowish side) Link to comment
someone
If we don't experiment in useless series like this, then it's never gonna happen. No.4, 5 and spinners are all vacant spots for WC2019 and we ought to try more players. Link to comment

Turning_track
This guy Dinesh Karthik made his debut before MSD came into scene, but he is still sent back to the Indian team by the selectors every time which disrupts the combination. Even Pakistan did not persist with Yasir Hameed and Imran Farhat for that long.. Jayawardene saw young Akila Dhananjaya bowling in the nets and after some time he was playing in SL colors. Do these selectors/former players/captain have the ability to select random talented player in the team and groom him to become world class talent by giving enough chances? Link to comment
chapetmarunga
1)looks like selectors are looking at Karthik as the replacement keeper for Dhoni for the world cup. 2) I don't like Shardul cuz he leaks too many runs & is predictable. 3)Shreyas should have been there. A fully fit shami should walk in to this xi. Bumrah for all his death bowlin prowess is not that good while opening the bowling and Bhuvi has his good n bad days as far as wicket taking is concerned. Shami is the only bowler who has taken wickets consistently since he made his debut. Tell me how many bowlers we have or have ever had with a bowling avg of 25? I get that we need to conserve him for test matches but that doesn't mean he should be out of the ODI picture completely, after just 1 match. Ideally all 3 should be playing. Our current 4 to 6 positions do not have a single 6 hitter based on current-day ability ..... while we see other teams packing their sides with explosive batters ..... and this is resulting in Hardik being promoted to 4 .... resulting in 6 and 7 being consolidators. Except for Rohit and Pandya we have almost 90s kind of six hitting ability. express bowling, sergio04 and Mosher 3 Link to comment

Vk1
I still remember like yesterday..our batsman in Sharjah and elsewhere used to slog and it always used to fall in the hands of long on..or long off or deep midwicket. How far can Dhoni or Pandey or Jadhav hit in 2019 is questionable. Link to comment

Texan
Regurgitation policy continues with Karthik pick. Rahul should have got a longer run. And he should be played as an opener. Link to comment
RAZPOR
do the selectors get paid ,if so why??? aur kabada karne ke liye???? Turning_track and OpeningBatsman 1 1 Link to comment
wanted_desi
I hope KL Rahul smashes 3 centuries in South Africa, making a case for himself to be in the ODI set up. He is your second best batsman, i can understand if he was dropped if he plays as an opener and failed. RAZPOR and speedheat 1 1 Link to comment
bowl_out
Why is there so much surprise over Shami and Umesh being dropped. They have been identified as Test bowlers. They were just given a brief exposure to ODIs again.. Bhuvi, Bumrah, Pandya are the first choice ODI bowlers.. Thakur is a backup.. Rahul being dropped is shocking.. would have liked to see him get a few opportunities before being sidelined.. maybe he'll be back for SL Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
"Karthik's inclusion is a reward for the runs he has been scoring. There is no particular reason [behind Rahul's omission] because Ajinkya [Rahane] has done well as an opener. He (Rahul) will play Board President's XI or the Ranji Trophy. What's the point in him just being in the squad and not playing? We will see how it goes [as far as his batting position is concerned]. Because, as of now, this is the best combination." a BCCI official told ESPNcricinfo. "We are trying to rotate everybody. We are open to different combinations and options. DK instead of Rahul in the middle order is also a part of the process," he added. Is rahul playing Board president XI games????? Link to comment

tweaker
I don't think young players have any chance to be selected in the squad uptil the world cup. It seems this selection committee is more interested in tried & tested failures. Link to comment

When was the last time some new kid was selected 1 and half yr before wc and actually went on play in starting XI of that WC. People should stop moaning and get used to it already. Link to comment
