We felt KL, because he opens mostly, we don't want to have a situation like Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane) was going through in between - having to play in the middle order forcefully because of what the top order was doing," Kohli said. "We thought it's better that he (Rahul) gets some game time in the first-class level so we got in Dinesh who has always played in the middle order. He is more comfortable and more aware of how to bat in the middle order. We need to strike that good balance, bring in guys who have the ability, who have done well in domestic cricket, who have done well for India A, you know track their performances and give them chances accordingly. "It's not a situation where you just start giving chances to people so much that you compromise on winning the series because of lack of experience. We need to strike that good balance regularly." This was kohli statement few months back - KL got one game at 4......and 2 at diff spot and all of sudden he is an opening option not even considered middle order option Ok good u hve sent him to have some game time but now he is an opening option only...... Rahane n Rahul comparison- Abbee rahane ke pass game hi nahin hai middle order ka to comparison kaha se aa gaya. RAZPOR Posted October 21, 2017 Share Posted October 21, 2017 This would have made more sense had KL got at least 10 chances at no 4 to get used to the dynamics of middle order batting,but seems like an over reaction and foolhardy conclusion based on just 4 opportunities that KL actually got,they are sure going to ruin him this way. Don't think there has ever been a more disgusting captain-coach-selection committee than we have right now. We anyways struggling with no 4 and 5, pandya is just started to settle in, we have replaced jaddu and ashwin with young spinners, now add pant and remove Dhoni. We would lose to SL as well.
