Who is a better cricketer: Sachin Tendulkar or M.S. Dhoni?

This thing about Sachin being a choker is a Pakistani created frenzy because of their complex. Don't fall into that trap. Even as a captain, Sachin was very aggressive but couldnt find the right support from his team. Our team was very mediocre then. If he had the services of Srinath, Zaheer, Md Shami, Umesh Yadav with Kumble , I am telling you, he would have conquered the world. He never had any bowlers with him. And he has been blamed unnecessarily all these years

never called Sachin a choker, just said Dhoni won championships and Sachin did not win many in comparison. Sachin is aesthetically pleasing batsman Dhoni was just effective. Sachin could play in all conditions Dhoni could not.  Many folks like Dhoni because of the rustic charm and winning despite his shortcomings. Many folks like Sachin for his longevity and the amount of runs he scored and centuries, Sachin was a good batsman for a very very long time. Both were calm on the field, both are shrewd businessmen and trade favors off it. But then Sachin could never keep lol. For winning wc's as a captain some folks rate Dhoni as a cricketer better, its just an opinion we should learn to live with it either-ways. Sachin obviously treated individual milestones with lots of importance, and it shows in his stellar career stats, but some folks do not necessarily see that as an important attribute in a team sport like cricket.

Agreed that Dhoni has been batting lower down the order and scoring 20s and 30s. However one thing we need to realise that most of these scores have come under high pressure situations wherein india was at the brink and the result of the match could have gone either ways. These low scores literally propelled India many times to victory. Hence it is not only about scoring runs and adding to numbers. The effectiveness of these runs should also be taken into account. This is where I feel Dhoni has an edge over Tendulkar and that is why I regard him as a better cricketer.

Getting back to Dhoni and Tendulkar they both show the same charatersitic trait  and dont seem to understand when their time is up. They were both great but still seeking personal glory after their respective peaks. Dhoni needs to go away.

MSD - world class keeper , ATG odi batsmen and a top captain

sachin - deab rubber speacilist in test matches , abover average batsmen other than his peak and a record oriented batsmen

Tendulkar definitely was seeking glory towards the end of his career. Can't say the same about Dhoni. His contribution is still vital for the team. India dosen't have a replacement for a wicket keeper bastman as yet (especially matching Dhoni's quality).

Tendulkar played because BCCI knew there wont be another Tendulkar and hundredth of millions of fans have allmost become indifferent to team India since he hanged his gloves.

And thats the biggest reason. Result of few meaningless bilaterals here and there meant nothing to BCCI, and them fans. Young ones didnt like that, so what. Get over it. Middle aged Men (mam) rule.

Bhavneet kab se Pakistani hogaya ? He was good in 90s because rest of them are average. He would have been just an another guy in modern day cricket. His SR and average similar to Dhawan and Dhawan is not even best cricketer in that Indian squad. Explain that..

LMAO It's abvious we are talking about Odis when We say he plays for milestones and we end up losing most of them. No one even spoke about Test cricket here. Dravid was obviously better Test player than sachin for India its just sad he didn't have Mumbai lobby backing like sachin did.. let's not forget how bad he Is in T20Is that he couldn't even be selected for any tours. Played 1 match ? That says a lot and his batting partner Viru played from 2007 till he is dropped. Dhoni always used to bat with Tail and we all know how good our tail is in foreign conditions.. Not until last 2 years Ashwin and Jaddu are contributing with the bat. He has Good innings in England when we got whitewashed because he has squad full of deadwood like sachin and co... No much can be done.. He has 3 roles to play captain/wk/batsmen can't blame him.

Dhoni is one of the best captain’s ever

Tendu was a **** captain

Dhoni has led the team to new highs

Dhoni hit the winning runs at the 2011 WC- Tendu mainly choked when it mattered.

Dhoni was able to captain, keep wicket, bat & lead Ind to many wins.

So therefore: Dhoni>>>>>>>>>Tendulkar
