This is all the setup done by kohli to push msd out nicely. The writing is on the wall he just doesn't want to look bad in this episode. Msd fans who think otherwise are mistaken.

VK doesn't know how to play "nice" though.

On one hand across the border we get wannabe conquerors of the golden age who come up with coups, backstabbings, oaths on holy books, over throwing captains etc etc and

on the other hand we have the modern day “Shravan Kumar”- for those of you who don’t know the old moral folk tale-it is about a kid who carried his old and blind parents on his shoulders  on a pilgrimage.

Now on surface the 2nd scenario looks pleasant and heart warming but this is Cricket

just enough with this crappy shenanigans.. can we just pick the best team

Have to feel sad for Dhoni. The guy who came into the team with the promise of a revolution, bringing youth and banishing the oldies who were past it is now himself a liability. At his peak no one could touch him, he was a match winner, not selfish, etc, etc. Now he is hanging on while he is way past it and he needs others to come and make such statements to protect him. Once his attitude and his on field performances spoke for themselves. The day you need others to defend you, the day you know you have hung on for too long

For a change, you articulated something worth reading. Agree, it has to be bad for Dhoni when his teammate has to defend him regardless of being fair or not. Need to perform better than this.

Kohli is on huge PR drive since a year. Look at the players he praises over the top almost to an extent of being cringeworthy:

1) ABDV :. Has a massive fan following throughout the world

2)Amir :. As much we would not except but many including cricket experts and players themselves rate him among top 2 pace bowler along with Starc . He has a massive fan following in Pakistan. Kohli wants to tap subcontinent market as a global brand ambassador since goras are never going to be in awe of kohli in a way subcontinent people do. Asian Cricketers have their limitation as far as expanding their global image even more so than goras.

3) Dhoni :.  Dhoni again has a massive fan following in India. People regard him as a Superhero. Super captain.

4) Rohit :.  He too has a great reputation and sizeable fan following. He is rated highly by most cricket experts.

agree with every word you said except Amir being top 2 along with starc, Kohli obviously is in a PR overdrive.

Then why does he lick Rahane's boots so much, i.e. playing him in so many ODIs? As far as I know, Rahane does not have a massive fan following. Also, Amir is not among the top 2 pacers in the world... he isn't even amongst the top 2 in Pak (prob. Hassan Ali and Mohd. Abbas).

They can't defend him forever, as he don't have the skills to perform at this age and with his crappy technique. He's only going to prolong his misery destroying whatever respect he has.

I cannot wait for SA tour to start. lol

it will be fun to watch. pride before a fall and all that.

i would be interested in some substantiation for this.

who are the experts who said this when and what was the evidence they provided.

There was a reddit live session during CT2017 where a current player (don't remember his name)was asked who is the best pacer in the world and the reply was Amir without any hesitation. And this was much before Amir made our top 3 dance in CT final and at which point he was facing a bit of ire from even Pakistani fans.

This is not only one example. Watch post match shows involving Pakistan. Everyone even excluding dr. sahab is all praise for Amir.

Now I know a lot of it is more hype than distance. But who will explain it to so called Experts.
