Will Pak v Ind tests ever match the Ashes?

Do any other Pakistan/Indian fans wish that we had an ongoing test series against each other like the Ashes rivalry?

Obviously theire would need to be consessions from both sides (Pakistan would need to agree not to win every match and India will need to agree not to doctor wikets).  There is so mauch passion and histry between England and Asturalia and it is a pity that are two sides cannot come together and reignite a similar rivalry.  I still recall fondly during the ninties/00's before I was a multimillionair watching the greats like Dravid, Sehwag, Laxman and Kumble vs Younis, Wasim, Waqar and Afridi.  What a shame these matches are dead.

Given we are the largest two cricketing loving nations with a fierce rivalry, I wish are cricket boards could look beyond petty differences and re-start 5 test series every second year as a permanment fixture in the cricketing calander.

Does anyone else agree or do most think our rivalry is dead and replaced with ODIs and 20T's?

I seem to recall a wonderful series around the start of the decade where Sehwag, Afridi and Younis all scored huge runs while Kumble and Saqlain bowled for hours on end netting big hauls.

I miss those days.  Would love to see Wahab and Amir work over Kolhi and Pujara and watch Rahane vs Yasir on a 5th day pitch.

Much more enjoyable than watching Warner and Smith inflate there averages on flat Australian pitches against washed up has-beens like Braod and Andason

Why wouldn't people watch test matches?

5 days of non-stop cricket, massive rivalry, some of the best players in the world competing and testing their skills - I would sugest people would be mad not to want it

I have watched that enough. On 5th day you are sick and tired. No developing country can afford this old mans format. If you enjoy it that is fine but for me there is no charm left.

The empire could afford to play five day games because they had brown man doing all their work. There is no way developing countries can afford this extravaganza for 5 days.

Agreed, very much a colonial era contest.  Point still stands that it is a great spectacle and true test of cricketing skills.

Fortunately Pakistan is no longer a developing nation - we're awaiting others to stop developing, start standing on there own two feet and play us in test cricket!

It is boring and no fun.

On a serious note Pakistan is not a developed country. Your response time is so quick I have  a feeling your DSL is not in Pakistan either. Oh BTW practise what you preach.

As for my response time, I am fortunate to own my own successful business that has made me very rich.  I can afford good internet conecton

I think first Pakistan need to try to be a better team by getting professional players. Its embarassing to see them struggling to even touch a ball with the bat or bowl a single legal delivery. I mean, we all know that Nepal is a 20 times better test team than Pakistan, but we aren't playing against Nepal. So why should we play with Pakistan?

Also, they need to get some bowlers who can cross the 125 kph barrier which is the new benchmark for Pakistani bowlers. And if they can manage to keep their legs within the line while bowling ( intentionally or unintentionally ), it will be awesome.

RAFbhai .... Have you followed the Ranji thread ?

19 year old Ishan Porel is bowling with genuine pace and has bowled more than 50 nasty bouncers

There are some good videos there.

I disagree about the developed part because India is not fully developed and you are further behind.

I am glad you are a rich successful businessman. Now I can also claim I have rich friends in high places because I have been an absolute failure as far as money is concerned. I am genuinely happy for you.

I can watch a whole Test match. I actually did when Pakistan vs Sri-Lanka happen. The thing is if you truly understand cricket you are able to read whats going on. The batsmen are not blocking for no reason. They are blocking to survive longer instead of taking chances and getting out. The whole point of Test is to have patience rather as a player or viewer. Plays are dictated by sessions. Each session is a certian number of overs. Teams plan out there attack during those breaks. How to better use the sessions. Falls of wickets can dent any teams chances of going big. In this day an age you gotta play quicker if you wanna make a reasonble total to win. The team who has the right balance of attack and defence usually ends up a winner in Tests. Which includes having the ability to take 20 wickets. Now whats interrsting about Tests is how a bowler uses tactical plans during each over. It truly tests a batsmen out. Because they gotta find ways to score while keeping there wickets intact. Tests is every cricket lovers paradise. It truly cannot die.

Trus me I have been in the stands of Feroze Shah Kotla and watched all great teams (WI, England, Pakistan not Australia).

Tests are about as boring as it gets. People in the stands get tired. What you call patience is epic boredom and it does not get any worse. Half an hour goes by before a run is scored. You could see a six maybe once in a test match. On third day ofthe match we would have fights in the stands with police escorting people out.

T20 like baseball is fast. I am the microwave geneartion person. I dont like slow cooking. I dont like batsman taking half an hour to settle. Just like in baseball a batter who is about to come is swinging his bat on the sideline to get his timing down at the first pitch so odes the btsman in cricket has to hit the first ball. Get it right the first time. Fielding standards are high It is fun.

If test cricket was so great people would be watching it. Unfortunately they dont.

To each their own.

I used to prefer ODIs when younger, but now it's all about tests for me especially overseas tests. I just can't be bothered to watch bilateral ODIs and T20s anymore.
