Hardik Pandya rested for Sri Lanka Tests

Hardik Pandya has been pulled out of the squad for the first two Tests against Sri Lanka due to begin in Kolkata on November 14. A media release from the BCCI said the selection committee had taken the call in consultation with the team management so as to lessen the allrounder's chances of injury. "Considering Mr Pandya's heavy recent workload, the decision was made to negate any possibility of a major injury concern. Mr Pandya will undergo a period of strength at conditioning at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru."

Pandya, 24, has been involved in 30 out of India's 33 matches since the start of the Champions Trophy. In fact, since June, no one has bowled more overs than his 147.2 in ODI cricket.

Pandya has made himself an important part of India's combination. He struck a fifty on Test debut against Sri Lanka in July and followed it up with a boundary-laden century in Pallekele. His contributions were arguably greater in limited-overs cricket, when he helped India dominate Australia over five ODIs and won the Man of the Series award. While his being rested may reduce the team's firepower a bit, this decision fits in line with the rotation policy that has been followed by the selectors in recent times.

They have kept India's frontline spinners in Test cricket, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, on the sidelines in ODIs and T20Is. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav have been treated in much the same way, kept aside for the longest format.

Please play kuldeep in all games, bowling long spells will help his control

Will gain nothing by playing rohit at 6, he is lost cause in test cricket. He ll score runs against this poor side and will wacked in overseas.

We shud go with 3 spinners and kuldeep shud be in 11

Rohit is tailor made for these precious moments only.

That as well. Hardik hardly bowled a handful of overs in last test series, and we would expect him to bowl with full rhythm come SA. LOIs bowling is a different ball game to long format bowling.

If a player who is 24 who has been in the international circuit for just a year and has only played 3 test matches bowling just handful of overs in those and who is in a developing phase needs a rest  then good luck to Indian cricket.

Keeping in mind the SA test series, we need to develop a back-up middle order batter too, to cover for any injuries

Keeping SA series in mind, shankar shud have been picked. I understand we need to develop backup batsman for overseas tours but the problem we have choosen a wrong horse. Nair n Iyer can be understood to be under development stage but not someone like Rohit

Its also imp to develop a match winning spinner if we have to win overseas, i dnt see jadeja winning us games overseas

Shryeas Iyer has tackled bounce and pace rather  well on our last A-tour to SA.

I would have given him a chance in this test series with a view to create a middle-order back-up for SA test series.
