Make no mistake, this bhai bhai rhetoric with our South Asian neighbors is almost always one way. We have only Bhutan as an all weather friend in this region. Others are opportunist backstabbers and have no love for us.

There are no "all weather" friends when it comes to countries.  Each entity can be expected to act in its own interests.

Explain Bangladesh's continued hostility against us after all that we went through helping them get liberation from the Pakjabi mass murderers. Lost thousands of men and allowed 10 million refugees inside our borders, literally gave them independence on a platter because their Mukti Bahini were such gutless cowards who didn't know how to fight. All that I see in that country is unlimited hate towards all things Indian....most ungrateful people on this planet those Bengalis. 

Nepal is a similar backstabbing bitch, their entire economy runs on Indian HEP projects, duty free access to Haldia port plus remittance by Nepali workers in India. 

 

Bhutan is a true buddy through thick and thin 

 

Sri Lanka: an exception can be made because we created/trained LTTE and gave support in the Tamil struggle. I can understand why they prefer China, a country who helped them immensely in the civil war.

 

Pakistan: No explanation needed. All i can say is that if Indus, Jhelum, Chenab had their sources in Pak, not a drop of water would reach India or we would get sewage in the name of water. 

 

Afghanistan: A good friend till now but their govt controls 40% of AFG. The rest (Afghan Taliban) are Pak proxies and hate us to the core eg IC 814 hijacking. Besides seeing how ungrateful these Afghans have been w.r.t Pakistan no reason why they won't turn their backs on us once we have served their purpose and fattened them with our money....treachery is in their DNA.

 

All in all we have the worst possible neighborhood in the planet, cursed are we to have them (+ China the Big Boss) surround us.
