puneet28
Quote "Since he had that control over his spin and his ability and his body, he didn't get confused. He had the confidence that he can get back to offspin whenever required. And he could do that." VRS Guru Kedarnath on R Ashwin's efforts at learning legspin Full article This was the last thing I would want from Ashwin. At times he goes for too many things that he forgets to concentrate on his off spin. Link to comment
WeStMiDz
I admire Ashwin for constantly trying to evolve and not become stagnant. For too long cricket and cricketers have been stuck in a pre determined mould. The game is open to changes. It may or may not work but you cannot knock Ashwin for trying to stay ahead of his peers. sandeep, JaFanatic and Cricketics 1 1 1 Link to comment

maniac
He can improve his offspin overseas, his batting which has been sucking lately, his problems with fielding and fitness.....so before learning a new "skill" it will help if he can focus on all the other things Link to comment

MCcricket
Ashwin needs to use more of his body, he bowls only with his Shoulders, with leggies he has to use his body, n hopefully will evolve as an off spinner as well. Link to comment
sensible-indian
All this is fine and dandy problem is his leg spin is just awful inspite of spending years working on it. Has he improved on it? If he can bowl decent leg spin, it can be a game changer. Edited December 23, 2017 by sensible-indian Link to comment

He cant use his body, he's malnourished as it is, any extra impact on his body might break him. Link to comment

Same as Akram. Link to comment

Vilander
Also looking at the comments one woulf imagine Ashwin is not the top ranked spinner in the country. Not picking wickets in tests the way he is..Indian fans are pretty special. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
He just became the fastest bowler to get to 300 wickets in the history beating Lillee and Muralitharan. Sure he lost his place to wrist spinners in the shorter formats. Rightfully so. But there is nothing wrong in working on getting his place back. Instead of not doing anything atleast he is trying to become more versatile. raki05 and cowboysfan 1 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Ashwin doesn't deserve all the brickbats he is getting for no issues. Without him we would never have swept away all teams in the last 3 years, if we lose in SA 0-3 we will still be no 1....you can thank Ashwin for the cushion we have got over no 2. raki05 1 Link to comment

Exactly , he is a dooer than talker and we should appreciate his dedication and devotion towards game. Link to comment
putrevus
The problem with this experimentation is he might lose his grip, action ,release points and loop on his offspin. It also means he is not sure if his offspin might be effective in SA and other places??? We are already seeing after effects of this ? he has not been the same since Chennai test in 2016. Link to comment
Gollum
I don't see Ash starting in SA but he will play in England. May be in his county stint he noticed something based on his experience there. Link to comment

As to whether it's the right decision is another story altogether Link to comment
