West Indies in India after India won the 1983 world cup !!!

West indies toured us in 1983 and played a 5 match ODI series.

Can anyone guess the series result ?

They massacred us across formats. Amarnath made 1 run in 3 test matches. That was the GOAT team and came here with vengeance. 

 

We didn't get lucky in England and we showed that in 1985 B&H, we were a good ODI team and were super clutch, not chokers like today's bunch.

Jo jeeta wohi sikandar. Whatever the results were in the following series, india won the match which mattered most.  world cups are cherished forever while bilaterals are just for fun.

watched the video of how dennis lillie and thomson made clive lloyd to assemble the all pace attack and got this

That was in 1975! The body language of INdian players in this series was something to be seen. Kapil was totally dejected. Even as a 4-5 yr old kid, I remember this.

Total annihilation by WI...after losing the WC 83....

 

But we deserved the WC 83 cup. We had one of the best allrounders in the team like Kapil, binny, amaranth, madanlal...

Also WI took us lightly during the final and paid the price....

India in 80's wasn't strong home team like in later decades.

The big reason we lacked a high quality spinner in 80's.

Bedi , Chandra , Prasanna had retired by then. Kumble started in 90's.

In 80's our spinners were Dilip Doshi , Arshad Ayub , Maninder Singh and Sivaramakrishnan.

The quality difference was huge.

No wonder high quality team like West Indies beat us.

 

In 80's we had bowlers who were more effective in swinging conditions. Players like Roger Binny , MadanLal were pretty good in English condition. They helped us win 83 WC and 86 away England series.

all teams were poor in those times in ODIs except WI and India did not get to play WI in B&H.

Eng, Pak were very good and NZ, Aus were decent.
