Pakistan are going into this as underdogs, they’ve changed the side quite a bit since the Asia cup. The middle order is still fragile, but the pace bowling sticks are quality, especially the two opening bowlers; Shaheen and Iqbal, the former is 6’6/7 and is already sending waves before the tournament has begun and the latter is 6’3/4 and has been talking wickets in clumps lately, strong and generates some decent pace and bounce.

Blanked a full strength NZ U-19 side a couple of days ago and did well in Aus (2-0) albeit a 2nd XI.

Apart from Prithvi who are the players to watch ?

From all major sides:

Aus- Jason Sangha and Zak Evans, the latter is almost a Pattinson clone.

Pak- Shaheen and Iqbal, two tall strong opening bowlers

NZ- Rachin Ravindra, already drawing comparisons with Williamson and is decent with the ball.

West Indies- Kallicharan, flamboyant batsman, has been marked to succeed at the international level.

Bangladesh- Afif Hussain, apparently a decent bat.

Afghanistan- Naveen ul Haq and Mujeeb Zadran, the former I’ve confirmed with a couple of mates is overage but still is a good prospect.

Don’t know much about SA and the rest.

Definitely looking forward this one....  Would be interesting to see the fitness levels of these guys. So Dravid claims this as a graduation , but I don't know about it.  they (Players) need to be looked after the world cup as well to ensure that move on to the senior team or probably play in leagues around the world. They have done the hard yards coming to U19 World cup , but to just let this group go after the world cup is not right.

Instead of looking at it as a graduation, I would consider it as enrollment into an  training program focused on technique advancement , focus improvement, fitness enhancement, where the U19 world cup is the qualifying stage into the program. If a payer fails to perform at the world cup , then they can pretty much be rotated into the State Cricket System for them to develop and graduate through the Ranji system.

From the last world cup following players that have graduated to the senior team, these guys are probably 20-23 years now:

India: Iyer, Yadav, Samson ( They have made debuts for the senior team, but none of them made a great impact . what happened to the FM bowlers ? Obvious fitness issues, because they have been sent into the State Cricket System)

Australia: Stanlake

England: Clarke , Ducket

Pakistan: Aslam

SA: Markram,Phehlukwayo, Rabada ( This is probably the best system, these guys are in senior cricket and are doing great. They will be the power house because they are replenishing 20-30 % of their side every 4-6 years. )

WI: Hetmyer

SL: Mendis,Samarawickrama ( This is where Sri Lankas problems are as well, not looking after these graduating players)
