Bhuvi needs an able partner

Srinath/Venky, Zak/RP, Zak/Sri, Balaji/Irfan . When fast bowlers combine and hunt in pairs India does well overseas. Bhuvi/Bumra combine well in ODIs. But in Tests they don't really complement each other. Shami is also not that good with new ball. Umesh is the only option we have at our disposal. Spray gun can go either way. But if you want to bounce SA out only option is Umesh. Big gamble. But this is almost like Bhuvi has to do all the work. Hope i am proven wrong in the 2nd innings.

How about playing some phashhhhhhtttt bowler???? Only phashhhhhhtttt bowlers who bowl 145kph half volleys should be picked. Trundlers like Bhuvi have no place in Test cricket.

drop the current 4 main bowlers and play aaron, ummi, porel and ishant(?).

 

on the other hand play vinny kumar, unadcutter (who seems to be bowling 130+ now), dhawal kulkarni and irfan pathan.

None of the phast bowler in this team bowled 145. On a pitch like this even 125k bowlers can do the job on the first morning.

No need to go for either extreme. We can go with Gurbani (trundler club) and Saini (quick bowler) who are both in form.

Cricket ha no set template. So, you need a combination of bowlers. we want 145K bowlers, does not mean we want wayward 145K bowlers. Look at the difference Morkel came as soon as he came into the attack or Steyn when he cranked up the pace up to 144K. Pace does not mean being wayward.  A good bowler will be accurate even with pace. Even BK today was going more than 5 an over.  how do you explain it?

Today even BK was going more than 5 an over.  how do you explain it? Don't see everything in black and white. no one wants a wayward 145K bowler that is why no one was asking for Aaron to be included.

but i want to see vinny and unadcutter play. it takes me back to the nostalgic 90s where we were crap overseas. only under dohbi did we achieve those grand heights, and maybe kohli will take us there.

 

on a more serious note, both of your picks are reasonable but i doubt if gurbani is reqd. he is a slower bhuvi in many respects.

most junta just want to see phaast bowlers play regardless of accuracy, etc. perhaps it's because of watching and absorbing trundlers since the 1940s onwards for the most part.

But he got 4 wickets. And he had 3 early wickets. If only other bowlers would have done their job, we would have bundled SA for under 100. Look how SA bowlers picked up a wicket each and one person doesn't have to do everything. The phashhhhhhtttt bowlers you people like are cr@p, have been proved cr@p over a long period of time and we only see different excuses for why they are extraordinarily World class but "unlucky". Never said every quick bowler is bad. I am actually quite impressed with Navdeep Saini. But more important than bowling fast is bowling with accuracy and getting the ball to move.

Ishant Sharma would have been an ideal foil for Bhuvi in today's match. I really cannot see how Kohli dropped him all of a sudden and gave Bumrah a debut?......... How come you do such wonderful things surprising every fan! Team India really missed Ishant's services today!
