12k Runs for Cook

Recommended Posts

One of the top batsman of this era.

Absolute respect.

You do not have to be a Cook fan to admire such achievemnt. Not many brilliant players last long enough to make 12k runs. Cook has scored all over the world, a world class batsmen in the twilight of his career.

Well done Amistair Cook

Just 4k to go.. Come on cook :yess:

Doesn’t matter if he goes past Tendulkar or not, he can never be the batsman Tendulkar was. He will not be averaging like Tendulkar or Ponting and neither will be as a complete a batsman as Tendulkar was.

Most likely he will fall short of Tendulkar by 2k runs and retire probably around the summer of 2019 after playif his last Ashes at home.

Top player though, 12k is excellent record.

Most likely he will fall short of Tendulkar by 1.5 or 2k runs and retire probably around the summer of 2019 after playif his last Ashes at home.

Says who ? He is more impact player that sachin ever was..He has innings like

294 against India

235 against Aus in Aus

263 vs pak Away

244* vs Aus in Aus

190 176 in India on Turners

Not HS like 248 against bangladesh and other 200s against ZIM and other teams at home like sachin did.

Those were good scores but he still dropped his average to 45ish so shows he wasn’t consistent much in llast few years compared to Tendulkar who was always averaging in 50s.

You have to see the fine line.

No one taking away anything from Cook though, he has been brilliant. But we have to move on from his comparison to Tendulkar.

Just shows how great Sachin was then to get scores against other lesser nations

Cook's 47 series average massively inflated by a 244 not out on a dead pitch in Melbourne, with Australia being without their #1 strike bowler (Starc).

But keep posting crap, by all means.

Did he get out to starc in 5th Test?

Ohh if he scores then its dead pitch if doesn't then its something else .. kk

Cook is a great batsman but not an ATG batsman, maybe considered for ATG opener slot.he has tons of weaknesses against quality pacers but his tenacity and temperament especially away from home is something to laud about.

They guy averages higher away from home shows great testament to his batsmamship ,also shows how difficult it is to handle the new ball in England

Worst 12k runs in cricket's history, the most underserving player to reach this feat

That's a ridiculous thing to say. imagine being an England fan for the last decade, you've seen opening batsman come and go, and here's Cook, always there fronting up, 150+ consecutive matches. By all accounts a nice bloke, polite and a fierce will to keep going. No England fan i know puts him in the same league as Lara, Tendulkar etc but he does make them immensely proud. He deserves to be in the top ten  run scorers as much as Kumble deserves to be in top ten wicket takers.

And that too he was dropped on around 60 I think.
