Gollum
3 wickets, 4 dropped catches with 3 of them coming in a 10 minute passage of play today. That scumbag Patel contributed to 2 of those today, Rabada and Du Plessis. A 5fer here must have meant so much for him because he is frequently criticized for his show overseas, this is as cruel as it gets. That was a wonderful spell of bowling by him today, probably also the unluckiest spell in a long long time. Jimmy Cliff, SecondSlip, Turning_track and 5 others 2 1 5 Link to comment

Very hard catch but dropped. He even got the ball to pop up off Amla when he was at 0. Vijay dived but just missed it. So unlucky to miss out on a 5fer. Could have been a 7fer another day. Gollum
@sensible-indian There was another incident yesterday in the 88th over (I guess) where Jaddu (the substitute fielder) lost sight of the ball at deep mid wicket. 5 misses for 1 bowler, **** !!!! Link to comment

Haha yeah....it was against Maharaj... Only Abd, philander and ngidi had no chances reprieved of his bowling. He almost got 8 out of 11 bats dismissed (albeit a fluke chance of Maharaj). vvvslaxman
If Ashwin gets his groove right overseas as well he can be a series winner. That is the thing with Ashwin. Once he finds rythm he makes it count most of the time. We don't have pacers to run through sides like Wagner did. They have to click collectively. Only guy who can do on our side is Ashwin. So he needs all the confidence needed. Link to comment

Wagner has Boult who is very consistent or Southee who is semi-consistent...,you won’t like it but Ishant has had wagneresque performances when he has had support...our most reliable and consistent pacer Bhuvi is dropped,Bumrah is a rookie and Shami is a let down with his fitness and not as consistent as I thought...we have Umesh and Jadeja in the reserves ..add a 140k allrounder Pandya and Ashwin ...on paper it looks like one heck of a bowling line up with all bases covered but somehow we seem to have all the pieces of the puzzle but they just don’t not fit in Edited January 15, 2018 by maniac tweaker 1 Link to comment

That's pretty much out of question now. We needed either of Vijay and Pujara to get a big hundred for that. Right now I'd settle for a deficit of around 30-50. Link to comment

Only problem is including most of them would mean dropping a batsman. Problem is finding the right balance. Shami has to step up big in the 2nd innings or else he has to make way for Bhuvi who i think never should have lost his place. If at all he wanted Ishant it should have been for Shami or Bumrah. Dropping the lone new ball bowler was one of the most ridiculous Indian team selection ever. maniac 1 Link to comment

adi B
Thnx to our bowlers ( who didn't get demotivated after so many drops ) we restricted them to 335 else it would have been a 450 score .if the catches were taken saf would have been shunned inside 280 Gollum 1 Link to comment

Potentially match winning to 90% match losing. It is not just that, imagine had Ashwin taken a 7fer in the 1st innings he would have been charged up for SA 2nd innings while the chokers would have lost the mental battle even after taking a small lead. adi B 1 Link to comment
Gollum
I don't want to jinx, but Maharaj looked like a novice out there. Based on performance in these conditions, he justifiably had a scary reputation coming into the series but has been outbowled by the visiting spinner so comprehensively. To those who were calling it a rank turner on day 1,what say now? I feel it had a slight amount of turn and coupled with the slowness and consistent bounce, nothing to fear for the batsmen. As @sensible-indian said in another thread if you don't get it right as a spinner here, it will sit up just right begging to be hit to the boundary. mancalledsting 1 Link to comment
