well testing positive was forgone conclusion :wtg: http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=42610 By Khalid Hussain KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have secretly tested their dope-tainted pacers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif only to find out that they are still carrying traces of banned anabolic steroid nandrolone, sources said on Monday. According to the sources, the PCB have carried out secret dope tests of the two players, who were banned for using nandrolone last year before earning a reprieve from a PCB appeals committee. The results, according to the sources, have only proved the Board?s worst nightmare true as the players have again tested positive for nandrolone. However, there has been no official confirmation of the dope tests. The PCB have announced that they would carry out dope tests of all the 15 players selected to represent the country in next month?s World Cup in the West Indies. According to PCB?s Director Operations Saleem Altaf, the tests would be carried out on February 16. The reason behind another round of internal dope tests by the PCB is to avoid any unpleasant surprises during the World Cup. However, sources said that the Board decided to test Shoaib and Asif before schedule to secretly check whether they are still carrying traces of nandrolone. If selected for the World Cup, Shoaib and Asif would certainly be tested for illegal drugs by the ICC which has already announced introducing ?target testing? during the tournament. The ICC have also supported World Anti-Doping Agency?s (WADA) decision to challenge the lifting of drug bans on Shoaib and Asif by an appeals committee. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to begin hearing the case against the Pakistani bowlers in Switzerland within the next few seeks. According to experts, Shoaib and Asif may get a life ban if they test positive for any illegal substance during the World Cup as it would be their second doping offence.

Re: dopist from across the border test positive again Hmmm.... it always comes back to bite doesn't it? If Pakistan end up sending these two and are tested positive then the career of one will certainly be over. The other one will have his couple of years docked. I have no sympathy for either, if you cheat you will get stuffed at some point in time.

Can you believe this report? When was this test done? And how come the reports came so quickly and they're leaked to media once again? Anyway, Pak will have to name the squad today, and we'll know how much this news is true then. If true, then it is very very shameful!

Re: dopist from across the border test positive again There you go. Now wonder if they don't pick those two what the rants of Imran Khan and the rest will be  They made a big hue and cry when they both were banned for a year and two respectively.

Re: dopist from across the border test positive again Real hope they are selected and then tested. This is hilarious :lmao: ----------------------------------------------------------------- KARACHI, Feb 13: Pakistani pacers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Asif were reportedly tested positive for a banned substance again in a secret dope test conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The results of tests proved the Board's worst nightmare true as the players again tested positive for nandrolone, The News quoted a source as saying on Tuesday. The two bowlers were earlier banned for using nandrolone last year before getting a reprieve from a PCB appeals committee. The World Anti-Doping Body has challenged the appeals committee's decision to let off the players and the case is being sub-judice at the Court of Arbitration for Sports. The PCB has not issued any official confirmation about the secretly conducted dope tests of the two cricketers. The Board has already announced that it would carry out dope tests of all 15 players selected to play the World Cup in the West Indies next month. "The tests would be carried out on February 16. The reason behind another round of internal dope tests by the PCB is to avoid any unpleasant surprises during the World Cup," PCB's director operations Saleem Altaf said. But, the Board decided to test Akhtar and Asif before schedule to secretly check whether they are still carrying traces of nandrolone. If selected for the World Cup, Shoaib and Asif would certainly be tested for illegal drugs by the ICC which has already announced introducing 'target testing' during the tournament, sources said. If found guilty of doping offence for the second time, Akhtar and Asif may get life ban.
