These are the 4 scores by the much vaunted SA side after the 1st 2 tests. Pretty sure all of us would have taken these scores in a jiffy before the 1st ball was bowled this series. The most incredible part about this effort is the 11 dropped catches in the 1st 2 tests, meaning the bowlers have got the Saffers out 5 times for just 1000 odd runs. 1-2 drops per test match is acceptable, 11 in 2 tests is clearly unacceptable, especially if you consider the fact that the likes of Du Plessis, Amla and Elgar were dropped multiple times. Earlier Indian team used to lose the plot after dropped catches and end up conceding huge totals, this unit is different and deserves praise for the ability to bounce back after the consistent *ery by our inept fielders.

:hatsoff:

It’s the skipper driving them on . He is like the olden slave masters and the slaves rowing the ship . Any slackers whipped to carry on and put full effort in

Please don't demean the bowlers. I know you are a Kohli fanboy but you got to give credit to our bowlers here, hell even Bharat Arun seems to be better than Sridhar and Shastribot.

Bowlers deserve all the praises. They collectively performed up to the levels required of them. But batting let us down big time.Apart from Kohli, all have been passengers.Sehwag,Dravid,Sachin,Ganguly & Laxman....they played against far better bowling line ups and performed much better .The dip in the standard has been huge.

Cant blame indian bowlers and kohli's captaincy on field at all!!

Fielding, crap batting and horrible team selections have let us down badly.

Bowlers were disciplined and good

Bowlers have done their job. Batsmen have been a major disappointment.

One thing I felt was missing in this test was wickets with the new ball and that is where IMO we lost the match. SA first innings, they were 1-85 and 2-148. We did an excellent job of then making a comeback and taking 7 for 89 but by then they already reached 335. Second innings Bumrah was able to take two wickets upfront with balls which kept low and we had them at 2 for 3 runs. But then neither Ishant nor Shami were able to take wickets with new ball and next wicket fell at 144. They again scored 250+ as a result. All 3 of the bowlers bowl far better with the old ball than new. Shami is good with new ball but here he is not able to find the perfect length. When it reversed he was great. However, in both innings the damage was done by the time the bowlers started taking wickets

Contrast this with South Africa. First innings on a flat surface they had us at 2 for 28 and now we are 3 for 28. Now you can say that Bhuvi would not have done anything with the new ball like Philander couldn't. But the fact remains, all 3 of our bowlers are much better with the old ball than new and we do not have a genuine new ball wicket taker. By the time the ball gets old, runs are already on the board for the opposition. Like with batting we need a balance in our bowling too

good bowling this match, again, am impressed by bumrah, 1st indian bowler in a while that looks the part, since ishant first bowled in australia

the 1st match was on a green pitch so not much to be read from that 1

Are you saying the likes of Amla, De Villers, Faf, De Kock are flat track bullies useless on green wickets?
