Those who wanted Vijay/rahul over Dhawan - Time to eat a crow

We need proof to say Saha would have caught those catches but no proof needed to assume Dhawan would have scored runs.

His only saving grace is that when projecting forward, there is never any proof, only strong indications. Not so favourably for him, while there are quite strong indications Saha would have caught those, there are no indications -- neither strong nor weak -- that Dhawan would have scored anything.

Yes. Ashwin , Pandya are  better than Kohli because they "outscored" Kohli in the last test.  Bhuvaneswar is better than Kohli in England because he outscored him.

You know this exactly how? BTW Dhawan is not a Punjabi.

He is .

@Khota I have nothing personal against anyone on this forum. I apologize if my post hurt your feelings but your posts about Saha, Ashwin, Rahul and Vijay, I am unable to comprehend.

Just answer this part if you want to, if you don't want to forget it, no need to get worked up over trivial matters.

"You keep saying that Dhawan outscored Vijay in the 1st test and that is why he is better. But then Ashwin outscored all our batsmen in 2nd innings of 1st test and again outscored all but VK/Vijay this test. Then why the hate towards Ashwin? You say he should never play again in spite of his performance. He got 5 wickets in the match and 6 catches were dropped of his bowling, you say there are 3 spinners better than him and abuse him. Same with your drivel against Saha, he averages about equal to PP yet is a safer keeper, yet you seem to hate him"

And @Khota I don't bother about zones and no I am not a closet racist or anything like that. Born and brought up in Bengal and lived/studied/worked in many states all across India, I don't identify with a particular region. I have a soft corner for our test specialists and don't rate IPL and white ball cricket that much, so in that way I may be a bit biased towards the red ball specialists.

If there were ten catches tobe had Parthiv could have done it too. We are going around in circles.

Lmao, dropthiv would have taken 10 catches in 5 matches. What is the point of arguing with someone who doesn't have the brain cells to know that people are supporting rahul and saha because of their overall records and that your entire argument is based on one SINGLE match which goes against every analysis or sample side. Keep on making arguments like a little kid

If you have read any of my posts about Ganguly you will understand why and how much I love him. It is a man crush. He was the first Indian to get rid of zonal quotas and the best captain ever. Not perfect but definitely the best.

I have spent countless summers in Calcutta one of the nicest city with nicest people on earth. Around Durga Puja time thw entire city was fun. Nothing but respect for my fellow Bengalis. I just never felt Saha was ever going to be at that level. My preference was karthik followed by Patel. Pant is fom Delhi but as I mentioned before he is not ready for primetime yet.

It is never about zonal for me and never will be. Growing up I saw zonal abuse by Mumbai and then Azhar. hate that stuff.

These are in last 18 mnths and a few in this test match the end figure will be above 10

Looking at that video again, f*** me ... that was almost straight down (conventional) 1st slip's throat

Lot of speculation. Nothing concrete. If he was taking five time the catches his total catches would have been x5 more over the career. Why does it not show anywhere that he x5 the # of catches.
Fact is Parthiv was dropped from test side due to poor keeping same with Karthik.

1st test - Saha

Opportunities - 10

Caught - 10

Dropped - 0

2nd test - Parthiv

Opportunities - 7

Caught - 4

Dropped - 3

The bigger problem is that a truly great wicketkeeper makes half-chance look regulation (or atleast doable), while bad keepers make regulation chances look 50-50. And then there are those that shamelessly stand there while a regulation chance goes between 1st slip and keeper ... and still stay in the team (one of them uninterrupted for close to a decade, another one with comebacks after long periods of time) :wall:
