AB de Villiers impressed by Indian pacers' skills and pace

Recommended Posts

Excerpt from an interviw

"Known for his mantra with the batting and seen as a complete package, South African star batsman AB de Villiers revealed his side was surprised to witness the pace bowling attack on a slow surface at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

“India have really impressed me. They have surprised us in terms of pace bowling,” de Villiers was quoted as saying by PTI.

While hailing the efforts of India fast bowling attack while adding they have shown the consistency and bowled with much pace on the surface.

“They have showed a lot more skill and definitely there is a lot more pace than we expected,” de Villiers maintained. "

Both the tests we did not lost because of our bowlers, but because of our batsmen. They are looking like sitting ducks in South Africa. I am afraid Pujara's time is over he does not have any gears bats in only one mode.

you forgot first test, we let them score 286 after 12/3. that is where we lost the first test.

Agree with that totally. The improvement in our first choice pace bowlers representing us at international level as well as bench bowlers and increase in quantity and quality of pace resources at domestic levels is seen for the first time. A lot of credit goes to a lot of people in Indian cricketing fraternity. Well done.

We probably have more 140 kph bowlers in our cricket at this point than any other country. It is about time, we get a few world class bowlers out of them.

Kohli and Kohli alone is responsible for India becoming a pi$$ poor batting side like Pakistan.

Also, proess has allready started. Wait for our bowling to disintegrate. Ishant Sharma Bhumrah, Saini will be only ones playing. Pandya, Bhuvi, Umesh, Shami, They are not better than IPL.

Catches! Kohli dropped Faf of Shami at 80-3 Imagine Dekock Coming against new ball.

With the betterment in count and quality of pace bowlers, the probability of unearthing world class pace bowlers is definitely more now.

yes, one catch was dropped but did we create enough chances? We dropped more catches in 2nd test.

hi problem is not with the gears.

kohli and sashtri should keep their intent crap to themselves, may be Kohli excels when he has intent to attack. Other batsmen might excel when they have intent to leave the ball. They should not try to change the batting style of test level batters.

so true. people keep talking about need to play natural game, being aggressive. Natural game is different for every player and they need to stick to that. Pujara's natural game is different and he should stick to that.

" now Mr AB DeVilliers , you are 2-0 up out of 2....what do you think of our bowlers?

" Oh great, fantastic, bowling really well"

"Hope to hell they don't change them":phehe:

but its apparent its a batting and catching failure. Time and again bowlers put the SA batters in pressure only to see catches dropped and batsmen doing very poorly next innings.

My gripe with our bowling they are unable to sustain the pressure. They build pressure by picking a couple of wickets only to squander it by allowing some late order batsman putting up a partnership. India needed near perfect show in SA. SA didn't need near perfect show. So we were supposed to be twice as good as they are at the least.

This is a general trend nowadays in tests. Lower order batsmen show a fight. Even SA bowlers let it happen. Our tail hanged around a lot more after a collapse.

Batting skills of tailenders have improved a lot in the last 10 years.

They don't make tailenders like they used to.    :p:

It is absolutely normal. There have been great bowlers in the past like Mcgrath and Donald etc who would take 3-4 wickets in the first 5 overs. And then the rest of the opposition would score some respectable score. It is the norm. Or you would have had a lot of scores of 30-40/50 all out in test. How many such scores do you have in the history of cricket?

Even Zimbabwean team wouldnt bundle out cheaply, and you are talking about South Africa in their own den.

Power shift keeps happening in games. Its absolutely foolish to think the bowlers didnt do their job.

Hey my personal view is India is a good team but they are being managed and man managed all wrong . Job of all Management team is preparation and getting your team believing they are the greatest. Any one with half a cricket brain can see that's not happening . Every person is scared  to fail , no confidence and getting angry and chopping and changing won't help

:cantstop: obviously he is not going to say we ll smash them in 3rd Test.. He is loyal to IPL money and his captain.

Abd is a legend :adore: and he has kept wickets against some some quality pacers, he knows what pace bowling is unlike certain someone whose fingers hurt while keeping express pace  :phehe:

True. Our pace bowling on this tour has been much better than on previous tours.

tbh, only Aussie pace attack would do better than ours. Doubt, there's any other bowling attack better than this one apart from South african and australian.
