7 deadly sins of Anil Kumble

Recommended Posts

1. Asked the team to improve its catching and each player to take minimum 50 catches per day to accomplish the same.

2. Wanted Kuldeep to play the Ranchi test against Australia, proposal got shot down by Kohli. In Dharamsala when Kohli got injured, Jinx-Kumble went ahead and picked Kuldeep anyway.

3. Asked Kohli to elect to bat 1st in case he won the toss in the CT final against proven chokers/mental midgets Pakistan.

4. Heavy on player's pockets, 50 $ fine for any player late for team meetings/team bus/training etc. Strict disciplinarian, eg masseurs giving fixed schedule lest the players barge, fixed gym timings, diet/nutrition charts to improve fitness. Kumble was such a khadoos that to help out the players he himself followed their strict diet charts lest they be tempted to cheat/binge on unhealthy stuff.

5. Buddy programme where 2 players were paired so that they help each other in feedback/communication etc in the nets. Eg Ashwin was paired with Pujara so that Ashwin could improve his batting while Ashwin helped Che improve his spin bowling.

6. Consistency in selection. Dropped Karun Nair after a 300 because at that stage Rahane was a permanent and couldn't be dropped based on 1 test match. Also how dare Kumble remained unbiased seeing that Karun too was from his home state, Karnataka, blasphemy in Indian cricket.

7. Backed youngsters like Kuldeep, Rahul, Nair, Jayant etc. Even though Rahane got his place back after the Karun 300, still Kumble picked the youngster in the Aus tests in spite of fervent opposition by the captain. Youngsters were groomed and backed by Kumble, are bhai is this no country for old men?

Perfect choice to replace Trevor Bayliss , just exactly what International Test players should be doing .

Add on he was a great leg  spinner that should help the two England have .

Thanks India you have played a blinder :cheer:

His real sin was knowingly/unknowingly he batted for CoA. Hundreds of Millions was on line.

Had he not done that, He would have been backed by Administrators.

this is spot on, Kumble should have stayed out of it and should not have supported CoA, despite Ram Guha being a fellow for him..

Kumble was heavily opposed to Kuldeep. It was Kohli and Rahane who backed Kuldeep.

Kumble also asked for captain of team to be paid double wages. Kohli refused.

Golden. King Kohli. :hatsoff:

Money minded loser Kumble.

Sir.....

Kumble phase looked to be the start of players taking things seriously. Sad to see him go.

Though he might be overboard with fines and school-like schedules, I don’t think he can be blamed for much else

Anil Kumble didn't have a career under school like schedules , obviously he thought these guys needed that in place

If act like a schoolboy get treated like a schoolboy

The fine amount would be donated to charity. But our khadoos pampered brats don't want to donate that also.

Anil Kumble was a  engineering  graduate who graduated with honors  , at the same time becoming one of the greatest cricketers for his country...pretty sure he knows a thing or 2 about “not having a life” also known as untomost dedication and work ethic.

So to keep up to his vision of what discipline is might be a bit of a challenge...don’t you think?

I have a feeling this may have something to do with it. BCCI loves people like Shastri who always licks their shoes.

I don't know how many of you read world history with interest in school, but if you remember the entire Kohli-kumble saga had the flavour of wilhelm-bismarck written all over it. Wilhelm is the Prussian prince who grows up under the tutelage of chancellor Bismarck who assisted his father the (Kaiser) Frederick and led to the unity of Prussia. But Wilhelm has tremendous inferiority complex towards his English cousin the king George. He is also an excitable and eccentric character who overestimated himself. First thing he does after becoming emperor is to sack Bismarck. Later he loses WW-I in a humiliating defeat. Bismarck dies a sad death... However Wilhelm did not marry a Bollywood actress so it's not entirely parallel.

every defeat results in double digit conspiracy threads.

Here is what i have learnt from these threads, kohli prefers defeat over buddy, he is a dictator, after defeat if he is seen similing then he is inconsiderate if he reacts in press conference then he is a jerk, he hates kumble because kumble wanted Indian team to work hard and kohli hates hard work, kohli is looking for excuse to throw pujara, rahane, bhuvi and rahul out of team because as i wrote earlier he would rather lose than have his buddy rohit thrown out of team.

Lets also see what people expect from him, he needs to comeup with playing xi which satisfies 1.2b indians, he should be passionate on field but just the right amount it shouldnt offend any of the 2b who watch cricket. Off field he should speak like a mature politician (even though his primary skillset is cricket and the guy is only 28yrs old) and he should never every lose a game.

People were complaining about team right from the first day of first day

They are not complaining only after defeat. :giggle:

kohli prefers defeat over buddy,

False. But he prefers buddy irrespective of whether he is serious of winning or not. Nobody wants to lose.

he is a dictator, after defeat if he is seen similing then he is inconsiderate if he reacts in press conference then he is a jerk,

True. Absolutely true and that's how it should be. He was seen smiling and having fun just few seconds after one of most humiliating defeat in the finals of CAT on the field itself. How is it justifiable? I don't care if he goes back to his room and dances to chikini chameli or drink to death. On field it came across as he didn't care at all.

he hates kumble

(True)

because kumble wanted Indian team to work hard and kohli hates hard work

False. He hates Kumble because he wanted his pet Shastri.

kohli is looking for excuse to throw pujara, rahane, bhuvi and rahul out of team because as i wrote earlier he would rather lose than have his buddy rohit thrown out of team.

As I wrote earlier, he wants his buddies in the team irrespective of whether he wants to lose or win. Nobody wants to lose. He just fcking thinks he can win by selecting buddies too. He is not going by merit.

Actually I don't think it might be a challenge,  International sportsmen practising hard , following coaches orders, turning up on time. .wow how revolutionary,  don't see any other team doing that .

As this wasn't the case for it all but a power struggle by Kohli to be " top dog" and using his friends in the team to help him.

Players unhappy with Kumble discipline is one great big smoke screen for the real reason
