IPL Auction Live thread

Have to say though we(CSK) did good in the auction ultimately ,that was by sheer luck.We were absolutely moronic is terms of bidding.

Bidding for Chawla and Mohit fking Sharma (Can't thank Punjab enough for that ) only to be saved by RTMs.I didn't even understand Pujab strategy using RTM for Mohit but not Sandeep .Not complaining though. And then nearly bidding 11 crores for Unadkat .

It was sheer luck that Wood ( and Vijay) was available till that late in the auction. Some messed up thinging today by Fleming and co.

Punjab wanted. Sehwag said in an interview after first day, they used rtm for Mohit, bid aggressively for Sandeep too.

You stole bhajji and rayadu from us as well :((

I expect Vijay to do well this year. He’s a home track bully in limited overs. He can do well in Chennai but not in other conditions.

Good for him that he’s back to CSK

Punjab looks worst of all on paper. CSK's not going far with such poor batting lineup. MI is balance but for a pacer short. Delhi strongest followed by KKR.

My rankings based on paper strength:

DD

KKR

MI

RCB

SRH

RR

CSK

Punjab

Should create a poll for the strongest and weakest squads

But they got Rabada who was RTMed by DD. Surely they had a plan for getting some of the fast bowlers plus medium pacers like Unadkat...basically a balanced side which they eventually got.

Wish CSK had used RTM on Tye and not Faf..

At the end of the day they had 6 C's remaining.. At least they could have taken PZ for a ride with bidding for Tye (just the way she did

for Unakat) to 8.5 or 9C and then dropped out.

Which pace bowlers that bowl 135KM+ we’re unsold in the auction other than Varun Aaron?

135 k + pacers who are not playing IPL this time, apart from Aaron and Nathu, are ...  Ishant Sharma,  Sandeep Warrier, Prasidh Krishna, Pavan Suyal, Ishan Porel, Sudeep Tyagi, Rahul Shukla,  Abu Nechim,  Ashok Dinda,  Pritam Das, ... even Kartik Tyagi,  Kushang Patel, Vineet Panwar, Ronit More and Royston Dias  are perhaps 135 k+

Apart from Unadkat, many famous  Indian trundlers have been ignored in this IPL.  No Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Sreenath Arvind, Abhimanyu Mithun,

Unadkat has been picked due to his ability to bowl good spinning slower balls as his stock ball.  Basically, good spinners have been in demand in this IPL.

Dhawal has been picked for a low price.

Varun Aaron is useless. Neither picks enough wickets for specialist bowlers. Also leaks too high number of runs per over. His presence is one reason for RCB not winning a trophy.

I haven't been watching much cricket as of late. Actually, for most of my life. :p

Is this a good squad for :mi: ? Never heard of most of these guys?

I noticed Rana isn't in the squad. :((

Is our squad good enough to trash :csk: , like we do every season when they aren't suspended?

Pandya bros+Pollard+Rohit+ my duas for the win.

You must understand that MI was formed only to thrash the evil of Mama and his Podu team... Later we evolved into a fine academy to train players to be top class in T20. So much so that by even sitting on MI benches players learn and become top notch players...
After graduation, we release these players for the benefit of other teams (its another matter that other teams and fans never recognise our contribution or appreciate us)...
We usually release trained players after we win the IPL... So we start with a new group of players and it takes us 1-2 years to make them IPL winning bunch...
But one thing we do is select players who are enough to thrash the Podus (whenever they are available and in whichever form).

So rest assured, this year won’t be any exception... anticipating this they’ve gone for a Dad’s Army this time so that they are experienced in absorbing the thrashing... They’re not bothered about unearthing any new talent and put it back for the benefit of other IPL teams... we do that at the risk of losing...

BTW this year Governing Council has not authorised us to win the IPL (us being last years winners)... so we will just enjoy this IPL thrashing the Podus...

some of the team buys/selection made little sense. One example would be Sunrisers's spinners/allrounder pick. They already picked up Rashid and Shakib but went on to pick up Nabi aswell. Could have used that money to buy a local talent or something.

Explaining the reason for Unadkat's high price, a Rajasthan Royals' representative said, "In such a short career, Unadkat has reached 100 wickets and is a strike bowler. He did well last year, finishing as the highest wicket-taker for RPS. If you look at our team, we have got a good batting line-up, but we lacked death bowling and spin bowling. We tried to differentiate our entire team.

RR think Unadkat is spin bowler. :rotfl: Well, can't blame them :phehe:

Yeah evin Lewis is a great pickup. Our bowling should do well even though the spinners are untested but they should be an improvement over bhajji. And no rayadu that's addition by subtraction. Let him go to csk and deliver biryani for dhoni. As far as Dhoni is concerned, who will he hide behind this time like he did last time? Lungi? :cantstop:

Why did RCB go for NCN who has a stress fracture??? Don't they do any research. He didn't play in BBL because of this. These injuries take a long time to heal.

The explosive paceman has new stress fractures in his lower back and will be forced to the sidelines for at least nine months and possibly even out of playing rest for up to a year.

Chahar is a good gamble by MI. Lewis is a smart pick. SKY for the price is a dumb pick. Pollard Rtmed is an annoying choice. Letting Bhajji and Biryani go is a great relief.

Overall a tricky team. If the trust shown on Pandya bros and bumrah pays off along with few gambles, it will be a balanced side and most probably in top 4.

As far as trashing CSK goes without Meiyappan's help CSK is helpless. And against MI they are always crap or let's put it this way we beat the crap out of them.
