Mayank Aggarwal's consistency is out of the world, yet I feel sad because the opening slots are already captured by Dhawan and Rohit, he deserves a run with the Indian team.

he usually goes through purple patches and then long spells of low-scoring innings. besides, opening is far too clogged - Rohit and Dhawan are first choices, and the likes of Rahul and Rahane are preferred as backups by management.

they are still through to the knockouts already.

Wrong. Delhi games are done and they are currently on top on 16 points. However Kerala vs Maharashtra and Bengal vs Himachal still remaining and both those game results are critical for Delhi.

One of Maharashtra or Kerala will finish at 18 points and take the number 1 position. So Delhi would have to hope Bengal beat Himachal who are on 14 points currently so that they remain on number 3 or else Himachal win will make sure Delhi finish on 3 at 16 points which will knock Delhi out of the tournament.

He has been really really good this Ranji season, he has probably fixed some of his technical flaws and I think that helped a lot. Most of the good players don't do well because of those little flaws which always lead them to making mistakes and now that he has corrected them, I think he deserves a run, but you're right, we have our backup openers.

Just like the speed watch thread serves as a nice ready reckoner for quicks in India, we need one for batsmen. Some very good talents coming through. Rinku Khanchand Singh is one such. Just 20 years old and has had a terrific start to his domestic career. Played a blinder today against HP, 91 off 44 deliveries.

Yes I agree.

It seems Mayank is as good as Shreyas Iyer or Manish Pandey and he should replace Rahane as Rahane is not fit for Odi or T20.

Bengal beat HP.

Does that mean Delhi is through to the KOs.

Khsitij dropped finally, Kalra on stand by

The DDCA senior selection committee finally dropped controversial pick Khsitij Sharma from the 15--member Delhi squad for the knock out stage of Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, U-19 World Cup hero Manjot Kalra has been kept on stand by with young left-arm spinner Harsh Tyagi taking Khsitij's place. Khsitij, who had been included in the squad during Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, has attracted a lot of negative attention as he was included bypassing proven performers. There were strong allegations that he was included at the behest of a senior DDCA official, who wanted him to get an IPL contract. Interestingly, Delhi played him one T20 game in which he failed and he landed a Rs 20 lakh contract with Chennai Super Kings. The selectors then included him in the one day squad with the logic that he now has an IPL contract. Once he flopped in the Hazare Trophy, the selection committee led by Atul Wassan had no option but to exclude him from the final squad. Squad: Ishant Sharma (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Unmukt Chand, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Rana, Hiten Dalal, Dhruv Shorey, Lalit Yadav, Kulwant Khejroliya, Pradeep Sangwan, Navdeep Saini, Pawan Negi, Harsh Tyagi, Himmat Singh, Milind Kumar. Stand by: Manjot Kalra

Mighty impressed by this P Krishna, Karnataka fast bowler. He's tall and extracts good bounce. Just bounced out the Andhra opener. And that seam presentation is IMMACULATE. Pretty much like peak Sreesanth. he already has a respectable enough speed but another 5 KMPH and he'd straightaway be in national reckoning. How young is he?

Watch out for Shreyas Gopal... with experience he is going to get better

Vinay's captaincy style or over reliance on pacers did not help gopal in the past .

if you look up , there are so many matches hes bowled less than 5 overs and taken a wicket or more . Never understood why he was underutilised .

Siraj looks to me an average bowler..his speeds are also not any source of encouragement..there are many others we should pay heed about

I am not saying that he a good or bad....but try to access him in little favoring conditions....

This is a flat deck with no bounce
