WC2011INDIA
http://www.news18.com/cricketnext/news/suresh-raina-targets-2019-world-cup-says-lot-of-cricket-left-in-him-1662119.html take it in writing. He will be selected in ODIs after the T20 series in which I expect him to do well. T20+ IPL + English ODIs = World cup 2019 ticket booked. He will deliver in the next world cup if selected. Loves batting on English one day pitches. velu, Rasgulla and DHONI_FANN 3 Link to comment

flamy
Will he be in T20 11? :P velu 1 Link to comment
velu
if he stay on the backfoot expecting a short abll eveytime , he wont survive much .. he can play short balls ( good in airy aliigator pulls ) if he staying in the backfoot , but bowlers can bowl fuller balls and get him esily.. in the last ipl even vinay kumar was testing him with bouncers Link to comment
Vilander
Peak Raina if back ( big if) is a better hitter than Jadhav in flat LOI wickets. Peak Raina ( if curent one is back to that fitness and agility) is much better fielder than Jadhav its not even in same league of comparison. So can come back to LOI for sure, playing 11 may be he was a good player in the past. Link to comment
NameGoesHere
I agree. If he can get his form going, he'll be an asset in the WC and I'd rely more on his making an impact on the game than Jadhav/ Iyer plus any other new player. Link to comment
Unleashed
I hope not. He's bang average. Link to comment
G_B_
Raina and England in June when the world cup with me is not a good fix I take your point that the middle and lower middle order needs to be fixed. mancalledsting 1 Link to comment
Lala
Raina is a capable batsman. India needs him. Welcome back Raina Link to comment
Cricket_Fan
People are talking like what we have now are incarnations of Yuvraj and Symonds.Even an unfit Raina would be better than the current hacks we have now in the middle order who neither can bat or field. Amazing destructive batsmen and utility bowlers and gun fielders. Link to comment
PSB_Zone
Rahane iyer and dhoni out Rahul raina and pant in India will be boosted with left handers too which they lack. Short ball is not much of an issue at 5/6. Experince matter Link to comment

Yuvraj and Symonds didn't become what they did overnight. Yuvraj took five years of international cricket to become consistent and here people expect young players to just debut and start thrashing international fast bowlers. Even Kohli too around two-three years before he started blossoming. Dhoni is the only real exception. Link to comment
Prateek3801
What a joke!!!!! Raina's international career is done and dusted, the maximum he can do is making it to the Indian T20 team. Link to comment

A team needs experience to win World Cup. You can have maximum 2 players with 1-2 years experience. Link to comment
swastikpanda2
I think Raina is just included in T20 squad so that Selectors can see whether he is still good enough or not. Selectors are looking for a set of 30 players for probable squad. And it's not right to include/exclude Raina from that squad without giving him any matches. If I am not wrong last time Raina played for India was Asia Cup T20 and World T20 where he failed miserably. If he has improved, then results will show in SA T20 and then he will be included in Odi squad. Link to comment
mancalledsting
He will defitnitley be included to add to 'brand value'. Really struggles with the short ball, if WC wickets contain an ounce of bounce, consider this guy a walking wicket. Link to comment

Yuvraj came to the party against Australia in champions trophy 2000 with great innings when he was just 19.Yes, he took some time to get consistent but that skill was always there.I see nothing like that in either Iyer or Jadhav. On top of it, they are pretty poor fielders. Edited February 16, 2018 by Cricket_Fan Link to comment
