What is South Africa's T20 Squad like?

Are those guys any good? just looked at their squad, some new names like smuts, hendrinks dala etc who tbh I know minimal about. Obvs they still have the likes of AB, Miller, Morris etc but any more info on how they play as a t20 team.

Are we gonna give them a good hiding again or will it be a lot closer, obviously knowing that the shorter format helps to level up the teams anyway, but are SA as weak as they look on paper?

most of them are unproven. jonker can allegedly hit it a long way. openers seems crap though.

Jonker can hit the ball a long way. He is all muscle. JJ Smuts is an unorthodox hitter who bowls some handy left arm spin

Reeza hendricks is a more classicial batsman in the Rahane mould.

seems quite tuk-tuk like jinx.

With Australia and South Africa on steady decline and loss of interest here in England and a more interest in rugby in NZ it wouldn’t be surprising if India dominates cricket for a long period of time.

For Pakistan it’s been a massive achievement to win an ICC Trophy and become number 1 in T20s despite not playing at home without a proper domestic structure so you can’t really compare with India.

with South Africa when AB, Amla, Faf, JP, Steyn and Morkel leave they simply don’t have the quality coming up it’s the same with Australia but they have World class players in their line up but again if you take out 3-4 players no one will be able to replace them, in India the game has massive following and the future players like Gill, Shaw and Mavi show that.

This poor squad shows Saffers weaknesses.

only Markram, De bruyne, Klassen, De Kock, Miller, Rabada and Ngidi are the decent talents.

OK thanks

Yes worrying times, unless you're Indian. Afghanistan might be ahead of SA, England as Australia in future.  The quota rubbish is starting to hit SA hard now at all levels. This article is interesting

I think even in india people have now started watching other sports. I recently watched ISL game and the quality is so much better than what we would see in domestic games just a few years back. Cricket is at its peak in India, not many have time for test cricket, ODIs still have a bit of following but t20 is the only format which will make money and thats what most will have time for to watch 4-5 years from now

Apparently SA aren't caring much about T20, and this series.  They're focusing on the Aussie Test series that's coming up in 5 days.

That's what the SA commentators Pollock and Wessels were saying just now- and it's not just this series but T20 in general.  Although they're also saying they're frustrated with this policy
