Didnt he scored 90 odd against you guys at Oval on 4th June?

Who cares a batsmen scored a fifty once in a while? Even Fakar zaman scored a century in last June against you guys :giggle: but it makes no sense since he is not consistent. I meant a proper batsman should be consistent anywhere like Kohli.

Ladka acha khel raha hai. Maniac is happy with 1 ton every series then why should we have a problem.

Remember Windies are cominng home after the Nidihas batting Bonanza.   Just ignore the England series in the middle.

We should prepare for Windies home series. Rohit should be ready.

on one hand we had players like Rahul Dravid encouraging younger players to take part in t20 world cup of 2007 and on the other we have the same set of players playing even after 11 years without giving a chance to next generation... The likes of Dhoni/Rohit/Karthik should not be playing t20

Since he will never be dropped in ODI, he needs to move to middle order if is swinging even slightly.

Let KL Rahul and Dhawan open. Rohit is a walking wicket when there is a hint off swing

Never seen a bigger FTB than this dude.

You don’t want him to start his innings at 33rd over. Might as well keep Rahane then.

Rohit takes time to start. If oppositions bring their seamers in the middle over he will slow down the momentum there.

He should only play as an opener or not be played now. We have tried him in the middle in the past, it did not work. No need to send him back there. Rather send him out of the team.

Sharma has no incentive to ever improve as he will almost never be dropped under the current set-up. For most players the threat of being dropped motivates them to perform and not take things for granted. Sharma is the total opposite and he will continue to be mediocre barring when playing SL and WI. The Eng tour is going to be rough.

This is the breakdown of his dismissals in South Africa against South Africa in his career in ALL FORMATS. As you can see 6 times leg before to right handers. 7 times caught behind.  4 times bowlerd.  Not sure how many times he was gobbled by a slip fielder. Basically he has serious problems around the off stump, middle stump and leg stump basically all the stumps. As long as someone bowls juicy half vollies outside the off stump or bangs in short he is comfortable.

Proof stats can be so misleading

in the 2 tests played

First test

we already established his master class in the 1st innings of the first test where he took the fight with some amazing concentration and defense even though it  yielded only 10 runs but in the context was almost a match winning effort- his master negotiation enabled Pandya,Bhuvi etc to add valuable runs.

2nd innings yes he failed but was an uphill battle

2nd test

Got a jaffa in the first innings but was the Top scorer in the 2nd innings

Also took some magnificent catches.

Overall verdict- average series by his usual lofty standards...not a failure by any means...stats paint a wrong picture

ODI series

sometimes it is that catch or that shot or that moment of brilliance that sets the tone for an entire series....Rohit’s 2 6s of 151k deliveries of Rabada showed That our team were in It to win it,singlehandedly pumped up an entire team and gave belief to a billion fans that we will finally  conquer South Africa in South Africa

Then after a couple of rare failures, just when it seemed like momentum is shifting back to South Africa after the 4th odi, the man stood like a pillar when it mattered like he always does and sealed the series with what people are calling the innings of the year so far. A 100 that won the series .

overall verdict- a good series infact historical  contribution.

T20

after the overwhelming contribution discussed above, set the tone again in the first t20 with some crazy hitting in the first t20 and then when it mattered captained brilliantly as the master strategist we know he has become in the T20 format to seal the deal and yet again in a must win encounter

overall- successful series and history made yet again.

Verdict -stats are useless at times, understand the  essence of his contribution.

His dream of scoring 200 in this series is complete now.

I don't understand where all this "hate" is coming from. We already knew he is a severely limited (and overbloated) batsman in SA conditions, and I was surprised to see him make that 100. I'd say that he scored about 2-3 times more runs than I'd expected. I would have guessed an avg of 10 in the SA tour and not 22.4
